There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I want a spyder bad, but looking for input!

I live in southeast Missouri and recently took a business trip to Osage Beach (Lake of the Ozarks), and Cuba MO was part of my route. I have wanted a spyder for a few years, but have always made an excuse not to get one. My stop at Cuba complicated my usual array of excuses because Len was kind enough to let me test ride one, and I realize that I want one very badly. I have never ridden a motorcycle, but have lots of experience on atvs. Here are my questions:

1. What are the chances of getting run over out on the highway?

2. My wife and I are a young couple who have been married for 6 years and are starting to think about children. Is this hobby two time consuming to warrant the investment since we are thinking about children in the next few years?

If you keep your head on your shoulders, your chances of avoiding a runover are good. The second question sounds like an issue that only the person who has it can answer. Hope you join the clan soon!:bowdown:smoky

Dont hesitate...

Go for It ... It will add a whole new level of excitement to your life, plus a lot of new friends !

I've been married 6 years and we are a young couple. We have 2 kids....ages 4 and 2. The wife was more down for it than I was, and we haven't regretted it one bit.

First I'm surprised that you got out of Cowtown without buying one! Please be sure that your finances will allow you to own one especially if you add the cost of a child into the equation. I bought mine from a young guy who only had it for two months when they found out his wife was pregnant with their first. They decided the money spent on the payment, insurance and storage fees would be better off in their savings account for the new baby.

Good luck with your decision.

the same

the answer to #1 is, be smart, be cautious and always watch out for the other guy! you'll be just fine.
as to #2, the wife and i have two daughters. one married for four years and the other for six. no grandchildren yet, but looking for them sometime soon. what could be better than having your graandkids riding with you in a few years. (by the way, my youngest daughter has taken two road trips over 100 miles with me!! i love it!!

If we wait to have kids until we have money and time, there would be no kids.

If we wait to have "toys" until we have money and time, we would have no toys at all.

It's all perspective........what is important to you?

I think you answered your own question. Surely you didn't post here expecting to be talked out of it. I'd say you're looking for supportive rationalization. Anyway, they are safe, best support for that is the super low insurance rates. I've got high liability, comp and collision for $289 a year on a new RT. Simply, these are a lot of fun to ride and well worth the investment..Enjoy!

:agree::agree: If finances would allow for a Spyder and a kid (or two), go for it. :2thumbs: There are other Spyder riders that have young children, so it's a workable situation. We decided on a Spyder because of safety issues, visibility, etc. If you put plenty of LED's on your Spyder you'll be even more visible on the road. Be aware of things around you at all times. Your ATV riding should have you well-prepared for riding a Spyder. (Probably an easier adjustment than from a 2 wheel bike). Good luck with the decision making.

Thanks for the input everyone. I am really wanting it and just got a job promotion with a substantial raise so money is not the issue I am just wondering how much I would actually use it.

:agree: len is slipping

I think of my Spyder as being fairly safe, but with kids I'd consider a good term life insurance policy just in case (they aren't expensive, and if you can't afford one then you really can't afford the Spyder).

A new Spyder is an expensive investment for something you do not even know yourself if you'll use it much.

Only YOU can decide that. But for reference... do you and your wife like taking day-rides in the car? Does she like riding with you on ATV's? Do you imagine yourself wanting to get up on a weekend and taking-off for the day on the Spyder and enjoying it?

The list of similar questions goes on.

Maybe you should look at a used Spyder first to see if you will like riding it enough to justify it. And don't forget... you need a place to store it. Do you have a big enough garage?

I see people waste money all the time on "things" they think they need or want, only to find out later they don't, or worse... can't afford.

Make wise financial decisions while you are young and earning money... that would be the first thing I would advise.

You're already toast on this issue, these questions are just a futile way of putting off the inevidable! We here at SpyderLovers call it 'Bitten'. It isn't fatal... but it is permenante!

If Len couldn't give you the sell job--probably no one on here can do it either.

You either want one or you don't, and no amount of talking or persuading is going to change your mind.

Let us know if you decide to bite the bullet and buy one. Only you know for sure if you really want one.

Those that have bought one are pretty much satisfied.

You just answered your own question.................since you can afford it, go for it:2thumbs: The longer you have a :spyder:the more you will be ryding it! Besides you have a great start when you deal with Len and everyone at Cowtown! The MoGang will be looking forward to you joining us on the monthly rydes!
