There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I need help removing RT headlamp assembly

Howdy....I am trying to remove the right headlamp assembly from my 2011 RT Ltd. I have removed four bolts but the assembly seems to "hang up" on something as I try pulling it out. I can move it about an inch and a half and something "hits."

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

My guess is the headlight aiming cable is still secured. Should be on the side, near the engine, under some bodywork. Looks like a small knob, with a big nut.

Is the nut a brass looking piece with grooves for a pair of pliers?

Here is a photo from the BRP instruction for the HID kit. Incidentally, get the Xenon Depot kit instead.
And don't discard the nut unless you have a new one to replace it, as you would with BRP's kit.

Thanks for the help.

No.

The brass item is a knob, this is turned to aim the lights.

The big 22mm(?) nut secures the cables outer housing. You remove the nut, it slips over the brass and is removed. The cable is then slid through the mount on the frame, this happens as the light is CAREFULLY removed.

Once on the bench you will see the 2 foot long cable and it should make more sense. Simple but a bit delicate with those plastic ends at the headlight.

Well,ya know

There I was, replacing the left headlight and went to replace the right as well when I decided to troubleshoot the coolant drip while I was at . So while the light was out I removed the leaking overflow tank. Nothing against Silverstars, but they were garanteed for one year and they lived a year and 2 weeks, and the output...meh. So, back to factory bulbs that went 2 years and back to the thread about brass threads.

I put Silverstars on ST1100.
VERY nice light, but it came at a cost of longevity. They didn't last long at all.
Think about HID's. They are supposed to last for 30,000 hours and installing them is only marginally more work than simply replacing the bulbs.

Silverstars don't last long. Had some in my Silverado. I go with Philips bulbs. Much better quality and longevity.

I believe I just got an email or saw somewhere that their is a class action paying out for those that bought Silverstars.

No other details, but I did read it a few days ago.
