• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I need advice on excessive heat questions, coolant and master cylinder checks

Hello, I am fairly new 2013 St-S owner. I have read my manual but it is not very clear to me on how to check coolant. I also would like to inspect my brake master cylinder cover to check for any signs of damage from melting. I experience tremendous amount of heat and yesterday after riding I was concerned about putting the spyder back in garage while it was so hot. We decided to leave it in the driveway to cool down before putting it away. I removed the ignition key from spyder and placed in my front pants pocket, a few seconds later I felt the metal blade of the key burning my leg through my pants. Wow, I was wearing blue jeans and the key still burned me. Now that is pretty hot. I showed the key to my wife and she said it was still very hot on the metal part. Thanks for any help or suggestions. We love riding the spyder but are having second thoughts about keeping it.

Checking the coolant very easy

Open the frunk ( trunk ) on the top left there's a cover remove the cover and you will coolant reservoir there , BUT PLS DO NOT OPEN while engine is running wait for a cool down period .

I have the same bike sts and yea they run crazy hot .

Coolant..!!

if you should need more coolant use 50/50 aluminum safe coolant. The cap has two detents or locking points. Make sure you go all the way to the second one. I use water wetter but don't know how much it helps. Always runs at 4/5 bars in warmer weather 3/4 bars in cooler weather. The other heat issues are under the tupper wear. Seems the venting is not very effective. To check your master cylinder cap you need to remove the right side panel. Where the exhaust pipe exits the cylinder head and drops down you will see a small heat shield on the pipe. Directly across you will see the plastic cap...hope all is well...;)

The master cylinder is located just above and behind the brake pedal on the right side, not left side. If you remove the right side panel you should be able to see the master cylinder connected to teh brake linkage. The white cap on top is the part that is melting.
