• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I have blood on my hands...

I've gone and done it. I stewed all week at work and then today I finally pulled the trigger and changed out the headlights on my 2009 RS spyder. The blood on my hands comes from not having enough room to work at getting the bulbs out of their housing tubes. I have scrapes and cuts working for an hour on both headlights (that was an hour on just changing the bulbs out; not taking the spyder apart and putting it back together)! I noticed last weekend that one of my headlights was out and I did some on-line research on changing the H7 halogen bulbs. On several threads on this forum I read about how difficult it is to access the bulbs (that is why I was not wanting to tackle the project until I had all afternoon to get it done). Boy, was it hot this afternoon and I got hot and bothered more than once on this little job. I wanted to let people know that this link below was helpful in getting the bulbs changed. Good information and pictures. Also, everything he says about a tight fit and no room is true. I went into the project thinking I would not have to remove all the panels he did to get the job done. However, I was wrong! I think I removed even more stuff trying to get at the bulbs. LOL.
Again, this is for the 2009 RS spyder and I did not upgrade to LED or brighter lighting.

Congrats on accomplishing a very challenging "small" project! Nothing ever turns out small or simple simple, does it?

:agree: :congrats:x 2

I just had the dealer install some LED's (plug & play). They screwed it up. On one of the lights, the high beam/low beam drop down panel is not working. They will be hearing about it tomorrow.

akspyderman;

Sorry for your problem with the LED light installation. Hopefully the dealership will fix it quickly for you. Let us know how you like the LED upgrade after you try it out.

i installed led's on my 14 rt with no problems. lots of screws to take out, but no cuts. if you want to talk about cuts, try working 40 story's up in the middle of the winter on a deck. when you get so cold, you don't feel your hands, and you know when your cut, only by seeing blood on the area you working on. been there, done that, on 59 th street and second avenue in NYC

Not easy....

Not the best design and working with that limited space is difficult for large hands. In the end, now that I got rid of the airbox, I have been able to do the job with just removing the two center panels. Seems that if one bulb goes and you don't change both the other goes shortly thereafter....:banghead:

The lights are great. I usually leave the high beams on all the time so did not notice the glitch at first. The problem is when I want to go to low beams. One stays on high and the other low.

You just need to let the builders of Johnny Five; take a look at them: :thumbup:

I feel like the blood on the hands is the sign that you got the job done. If I haven't drawn blood I must have done something wrong. :banghead:

Yup! Looks like a similar set up to the :spyder2: flappers--except that mine are on the inside and not easily accessible. That's why I had the dealer install the LED lights. :sour:

:agree: If I manage to even open a jar of peanut butter, and not lose any knuckle-hide: I just won't be able to appreciate the sandwich! :shocked:
