• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Yep, another Spyder newb here. I've been lurking here and lusting after an arachnid for around 3 years and last Wed a shiny new 2015 RT Limited made a maiden voyage from it's crate to my driveway (got a very good deal considering SoFla and couldn't pass it up). Hopefully now instead of drooling all over my keyboard I can participate intelligently. I've already learned alot over the past few years reading, now its time to start applying. I'm a brand new rider in my 50's, never rode a bike before (except 2 wheels in class a few years ago to get my endorsement) so I get to learn it all on a Spyder instead of unlearning 2 wheels. It's a little scary going out and earning my wings in crazy South Florida where driving a car is dangerous, let alone a bike but I just have to be careful and whatever will be will be - YOLO. Took some convincing to get wife on board (she would NEVER let me get 2 wheels here) and now she can't wait to go out.

Already have a list of farkles (first thing ordered was the FOBO TPMS) but it will center around safety for now (LED's, etc) until I get comfy. Just wanted to say hey and hopefully you'll see me around - probably asking alot of questions from the vets here. I trust alot of what is said here even though dealer warned me to stay off the forums, lol. Here's to an awesome 2016...

Steve

I find it funny that the dealer warned you to stay off the forums.

The forums are about the only place you get the correct info.

Welcome to the ZOO.

Welcome to SL. I'm also a newbie about the first thing I did was signup here on SL. These people have forgotten more than most dealers will ever know. Listen to both sides and make an informed decision. Knowledge is power. Nice looking ride.

Congratulations and welcome! Beautiful color! Do yourself a big favor and read the owner's guide thoroughly - twice. Ride safe, have fun!

Welcome to the fun

Love the color of your new ride. As you have no doubt picked up on, there is a ton of information out here both good and bad. You'll quickly develop an ability to weigh it all,out and make the best decision for you. Also, it doesn't take long to get familiar with the bike, side road practice is a good idea at first, and honestly the practice section of then manual is a very good start before venturing out.

Good luck, and welcome!

WELCOME!!

:congrats: And :welcome:

Let the farkeling begin- I started with : Anti-sway bar, Bumpskid, and High mount rear brake light. all fairly easy to install.
