• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I can not get my front trunk open, The key turns & I press down but afraid the key will break off in the ignition. It is a 17 RTL 57,000 miles

Try pressing down on the lid as you turn the key. Hope this works. After you get the lid open you might want to add a secondary way of unlatching the lid. Plenty of info on this site. Do a search. Good luck Bruce

I don't know if you can see the release mechanism from the left side with all the panels in place, but here is a close-up picture of the lever that needs to be pulled to the left to actuate the latch release. Provided you can see that with panel removals, you might try to fish a fairly stiff wire in with a hook on the end and pull it open that way.

NOTE: you don't have to hit that hole designated in my picture. just get your hook behind (to the right of) that lever and pull.

After that, the advice of adding an emergency release is a good one. Good luck.

:agree: The emergency release is on my spring list of thinks to do, and going to put one on my seat also, I have put a new cable on my seat and will say that will not happen again, fishing and attaching it to the switch was a fight!!!

I've run into a situation similar to what safecracker mentioned. I had filled my frunk with too much stuff so there was pressure against the lid. I gently pressed on the lid while pushing my key and it popped open. I hope your problem is a simple fix.

I've opened quite a few that were locked shut.... the above will work ( if your really luckey )the problem is you can't see what the hook is doing ..... this has method has always worked for me .... get a small towel, to stuff under the right side corner of the Frunk lid .... it can be raised quite a bit without damaging any thing .... get something about 18 inches long a 1/2 dowel or similar ... what is not in the pic above is the small plastic triangular cover ... that the dowel must get under .... If you have an LED flashlite try and look under that cover ... the dowel needs to go across to the latch .... push on it and the lid will release ..... good luck .... Mike .... PS, after you get it open put a release cable on the LATCH and use that instead of the ignition switch .... to me the ign. switch should only be used to start and stop the engine ....

This won't help you now, but it will later....
I NEVER USE THE KEY! There have been too many posts here like yours to warn me off that frail system. I attached a wire pull to both the seat and frunk latches. I also added a #10 spring to the pin in the frunk link to help it pop up.

Pop off the left speaker cover. Look to see if the cable is broken or disconnected. If so, fish it out and tug on the cable, holding the sheath. It will open. If it is disconnected, remove both headlights, and reconnect it. If it’s broken, remove both headlights and replace it. Call if you get stuck. I’m out west, so my 6am is your 9am. Joe
