Hugely disappointed in BRP - Spyder five now Spyder three.

Hugely disappointed in BRP and their decision to cut out the only woman from their ambassadors program for the Spyder. Faran represented the woman's point of view on the Can Am Spyder, encouraged women to ride, answered questions men wouldn't understand, and gave a female perspective on the Spyder. ( I in no way am attacking the three men whose contracts got continued - that's wonderful :) )

BRP has made a big mistake not continuing on with a woman being part of the Spyder Ambassadors program. many women are upset by this and feel as though BRP needed to more carefully consider including a woman in the representation of the brand.

Just plain disappointed.

Kris just mentioned this to me, she saw it on Facebook. I understand Mickey is out too. What the :cus: is going on at BRP??? I can see keeping the original three, Lamont, Fred and Daniel. But holy crap, what about the women who look to Faran for representation. And Mickey had some of the best videos around. Is BRP cost cutting??? How about some answers.

I posted on Can-am's Facebook page that I was very upset that Faran, our female Ambassador, was no longer going to represent us. Here is their reply:

And this is the answer I received: Can-Am Spyder Kris, thank you for contacting us on this matter. You are correct, both Faran and Mickey's contracts for this year were not renewed. When we held the search for the next ambassadors, there were no guarantees that the search winners were going to remain ambassadors for the long term. Faran and Mickey both served the Can-Am Spyder roadster community very well, and, as you pointed out, Faran did a wonderful job of bringing her perspective to the community. It was a very tough decision, but we decided to move the ambassador program in a new direction this year and did not renew both our search winner's contracts. We, in no way, want to imply with this decision, that a woman is not considered a voice of the Spyder. We are very proud of the female community who proudly ride the Spyder roadster across North America and spread the word about the Spyder to more and more people. On some level, everyone who buys a roadster is an ambassador, and each of you is important and will always have a voice.

Sounds like we GOS will be their Ambassadors now. Still, don't want Faran (and Mickey) to be let go!

WOW, I think this is a big mistake for BRP, i never met Mickey, But, Faran has been been a hugely big help to BRP in every respect.

I completely agree with you guys! Faran did such a great job marketing, representing, professionally caring for the brand and gave many women hope than yes they too can ride a spyder -without bring terrified about their safety.

If can am is looking for another ambassador I strongly urge them to cast call for women...
It would be interesting to see the statistics on women riders vs male and age vs professions.
Then compare that to whom (spyder five) influenced the market and how.

I am only 5'1, in my 30's and can't tell you how many searches I have done to read up on Faran and other women riders to convince my husband that I can get one.

I'm looking forward to our demo tour in May and will certainly remind them that Faran had such a positive influence on me and I've never met her.

I am not a facebook person--so this was news to me. Thank you for posting this on SL for us.

I was under the impression that ambassadors were changed every year, and now am confused about the whole process.

I read SL probably as much as anyone and I can't name the ambassadors beyond Lamont and Faran. IMO: it seemed like a pretty quiet group, and SL is probably their biggest "interested" audience that is reached.

From a marketing standpoint, they need to be out and about with the general public though. It would be interesting to know what the reasons behind the change are--but am guessing we will never know.

Don't mean to step on anyone's toes here, but want more information before I would dive in and give a more complete opinion.

brp

hey guys and gals you all should realize by now all BRP is concerned with is the $$ DOLLAR and could care less about the spyderlovers community after all look at all the requests about repairs not even looked at or the emails sent to them that they just ignor the company is one sided and were the victims that lady was one bright spot on this site and they just dont give a darn Rich

Bring Back Faran !

I cannot express how disappointed I am with BRP's decision to drop Faran as an ambassador for Can Am Spyder.
Faran is the embodiment of class. The energy, honesty and excitement she brings to all women riders (and men) is contagious! She seeks out Spyder riders and engages all of us in her pure love of riding these machines.
There were 5 ambassadors....4 men and 1 woman. I find that inequity standard fare for the motorcycle industries, but to further cut those numbers to 3 men and leave no female representation whatsoever, appalling! I am a member of Spyder riders forum comprised of nearly 500 WOMEN OWNERS. That's right gentlemen....WOMEN! Our group is one of many and we are not happy!!!!!!!
Its bad enough when some dealerships treat us as second class citizens once we have purchased our Spyder...but to remove the one female voice we had, Faran, tells us exactly what BRP feels about the women who buy their product.
Gentlemen, we are the new demographic you seek....I urge you to bring Faran back!!!!!

I know Lamont is a no brainer to continue this quest but.......I'm actually blow away by this. If BRP needed to cut two than they made the wrong choice........ We barely hear from the other two and it sickens me to hear this news.

I was not fond of Faran when she first came on board, but have since grown to like her. I know she can't ride all over the country, but she deserves to remain part of the team to draw more women to the Spyder world.

Mickey has drove all over the country and has made videos galore to prove he is worthy of this.

That aside....... I would like to see BRP give a postion to a younger person (20's-30's) with a tricked out Spyder to help draw a younger crowd to the Spyder world. A Spyder is not just a old mans bike, it can be cool, hip, phat and snizzle gizzle as well......

Personally I think they are losing two fantastic ambassadors!:dontknow::dontknow:Faran did a fantastic job showing women to feel confident to ride, one of the reasons my wife got her license even though she was always scared of riding a motorcycles! She also was very charitable! I enjoyed her stories immensely. Mickey was also fantastic, and his videos were creative and hilarious! I followed his journeys every chance I had! I think BRP has lost two amazing people to represent their product . And as a Spyder owner and member of this forum I thank them both!:bowdown::bowdown::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:.I hope they continue to entertain us with the stories and videos when ever they can!

I must admit I am really surprised by this decision. When BRP was searching for new ambassadors I was disappointed that a couple of well known Spyder riding ladies were not selected however after meeting Faran and Mickey and getting to know them I realized BRP did indeed know what they were doing (now I wonder). I found Faran and Mickey to be extremely friendly, enthusiastic, and personable and in my opinion perfect examples to represent the product. I just hope they will stay active in the Spyder community.

Faran

I had heard Micky's name but never followed his trips. Never heard of Daniel. Read quite a bit about Fred. And of course, we all know Lamont. Before I bought the spyder, I read all I could find with Faran. So disappointed that she will be gone. And who else was I missing? Can't remember their name. Nuff said!

Probably you have not heard as much about Daniel as he runs his own french website in Quebec . Daniel is good representative for the province and birth place of the Spyder, he also represents the French riders. If you have never seen any of Mickey's videos, do a search of "Mickey Fisher" on YouTube , highly recommend them!

Hey, everyone! Thank you so much for the nice words about the videos and writeups. It's sad, but true. The marketing is evolving without two of us. I was waiting to say something once some sort of official announcement was made, but it looks like the cat's out of the bag, so I'll say it here.

The time I spent as an ambassador was a dream come true, and I've said it many times, but the best part of the whole experience was the people I met, starting right here on this board. The very first people to welcome me into the Spyder family came from here, and within hours of the announcement of winning the contest, I had invitations in my inbox if I ever needed a place to stay. That experience was multiplied, event after event, and meeting so many fantastic people in person. When I won, I thought it would only be for six months. It went on a year longer than that, and I got to experience several bucket list kind of adventures because of it. So, even though I'm sad it's over, I have to say that it was a heck of a ride. There were many times, starting from the moment we met, where Faran and I would look at each other in disbelief that we had this opportunity. It was never lost on us for a moment how lucky we were.

I'll still be around, of course, as part of the Spyderlovers family and still making some videos from time to time. I'm not a hundred per cent sure if it's going to happen yet, but God willing, I'll be at Spyderfest. In the meantime, I'm out here in California chasing my other dream of one day showing up on a tv or movie screen near you.

Thank you guys so much for everything. This is a beautiful community of people. Here's to riding with you again in the future, happy trails!
