• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

998cc How much oil???

Hi. The oil level is down on my 2011RT to about 1/8 inch over the minimum line. How much oil do I need to add to get it back up to full??

Lets see....

First off start engine and get it to the operating temp.... or take a ryde and then check the oil level. Add a little at a time and re-check till you are at or close to full. These engines use oil and you should check it every 500 miles or so till you can determine how much yours uses and top off as needed...

Good advise. Be sure you are using the correct protocol of checking oil level before adding any. If the Spyder is not at operating temperature or has been sitting more than a few minutes, you may be getting an inaccurate level reading. Ride it for at least a few miles, then check the oil level. Never check it cold or after it has sat for very long. The best habit is to check at the end of a ride or during a ride on a flat surface. Like at a gas station. Then you know it's ready to go when you want to ride the next time.

What I really would like to know is "how much oil is needed to raise the level from the FILL to FULL lines on the dipstick of a 998 cc engine setup"

If you go to pg. 128 of the 2013 RT, pg. 107 of the RS, or pg. 109 of the ST operator's guides, all models with the same 998 engine, you will see that it is 500 ml or 0.5 qt from the lower mark to the upper mark of the dipstick. It appears that MY 2013 operator's guides was the first year in which BRP saw fit to state in operator's guides how much oil is needed to raise the level from the min mark to the full mark.
