How does the Frunk Cable Mount come out - Frunk End?

Some time ago I broke the cable that opens the frunk and am working thru getting it open.

Referring to the Frunk end of the cable. The cable enters a bracket and has a threaded adjuster with a lock nut. Does anyone know if the lock nut has to come off to pop the cable adjuster out of the bracket, or is it just slotted allowing me to prise it out (as per diagram A below)?
