• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Houston I have a problem

I was changing my oil today on my 2008 RS and when I was reinstalling the plug in the motor the shoulder of the plug sheared off with very little pressure on the wrench. I suspect that over the 10 or 11 times that I have changed my oil in the past that I was overtightening the plug and it finally just sheared off at the shoulder this time. I am hoping that tomorrow I can get the remainder of the plug in the motor out with any easy out or maybe the allen wrench. I am hoping that the plug won't have much pressure on the threads since the shoulder is now gone. My question is does anyone know what the torque value is for installing the plug?

15 foot pounds for both plugs.
7 or 8 pounds for the filter bolts (SM5)

I had this happen too--- last year Cowtown fixed it for me as it happened right as I was leaving for my trip.

Get a left-handed drill bit and try that before an easy-out. You will run your drill in reverse when using this kind of bit -- chances are it will grab the plug and spin it out --- if not then an easy-out could work. whichever way you go --- make sure and mark the bit and don't go in too far-- you don't want any metal shavings getting into the crankcase.

Thanks to all for all the input. I was able to get it out pretty easily, now I just have to replace it and probably the other plug also. Thanks again.
