• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Home safe about 9 PM after leaving Lamont's this morning at 7:30. 593 miles down on Wednesday, 582 miles home today (different route). The Hippo ran horribly, but it made it. Sucked up a lot of gas at 20 mpg. That's OK, I needed the extra rest stops for my aching buns. I don't know how all you folks do it. I know some have more natural padding than others, but Doc and several others, don't have any more caboose than I do. My hat is off to you all! You set the bar high.

Many thanks to Lamont for a great BBQ. Well worth a 600 mile trip each way. It was also great to get a chance to spend some time with Lamont one-on-one. I enjoyed that immensely. Many more thanks to Lamont and Chris for their splendid hospitality...and a place to park my tent trailer. I hope I wasn't too much trouble. You guys are the best!!!
 
Well, I got a little sleep and rest, so I thought I'd chime in again. It was so very nice to meet so many people in person, that I have come to think of as friends, albeit virtual friends until now. We did meet some of you in Chicago, but I got to chat with a lot more at Lamont's. It meant a great deal to me, to talk for a while, put a face with the name, and to meet some of the spouses. I wish Nancy had been there to share the fun. Thanks to all of you that took time out to talk a while, and special thanks to those who sought me out to say "Hello". It meant the world to me. I can't possibly thank each of you by name, but I really do appreciate getting together with you all.
 
I'm glad you had a good time and you made it home safe. I don't know where you first ran into the high winds we had here yesterday, but I rode the Spyder to work and I must say it gave new meaning to the words.. "with the wind in your face".

Not really, other than finishing the accent lighting on the Spyder and trailer. I believe, for now, that I am done.

I won't be at Cuba, unfortunately. It collides with our BMW club's 38th annual rally.

I'm glad you had a good time and you made it home safe. I don't know where you first ran into the high winds we had here yesterday, but I rode the Spyder to work and I must say it gave new meaning to the words.. "with the wind in your face".
Had heavy winds from St. Mary, OH to at least the MI state line. Better by home, but still strong. The Hippo couldn't even maintain 60 mph against them, in any gear. The sustained winds were not outrageous, though, according to the records only 18-27 mph, with much higher gusts, of course. A modern motorcycle should be able to go against them and pull more than 6,000 rpm. I've had it with this thing. I need a motorcycle that can get down the road without having to get off and push.

The Hippo is the name for my RTS. The black beast just looks like one. I'm sorry I mentioned the problems in my frustration. The details will remain between BRP and me, and the RTS will probably remain in the garage.

Sorry about your continued frustration with your RT. I knew you were having issues with some things but I didn't know you were suffering from a complete lack of power. I do hope BRP gets you taken care of before you are completely soured about the Spyder, if it's not to late already.

I respect that. I am sorry if I appeared to pry. Now I am guessing here that you have a pretty impressive stable of fine cycles to choose from, so which one will become your primary?

For me, If I ever had the oppurtunity to get back on 2 wheels, I would give the Suzuki Concourse a very serious look, as I believe that to be a very solid machine. The maniac in me however wants an Aprilia RSV4-R! :D

Anyway, glad you are home safely.

Other than Nancy's Spyder, I only have one other modern motorcycle...my ex-CHP 2000 BMW R1100RTP. That's the only choice. I'm worried about the transmission input bearing, though, so it may need an overhaul. Everything else in the garage is vintage.

Yeah, you don't want to put any wear/tear on the collectables. But those BMWs are pretty strong. I have seen a few of those running around where I do, and the CHP out here still uses them.

Man, I had no idea that your RT was in bad shape. I sure hope they can figure things out for you.
