There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Hitch on 2014 RT

Taking a look at hitches. Any concerns with using a aftermarket hitch? I see all the cautions about using the BRP hitch to maintain the warranty. Anyone have any issues?

If an aftermarket hitch or any other after market product is the causal factor of a warranty claim it can be denied, otherwise no mod automatically deletes any warranty from brp or anyone else. I have the BRP hitch and am happy with it so can't answer how effective the after market hitch would be

WHAT I DID

....I made my own ( it's not rocket science ).......I also have a " STIFF HITCH " towing arraignment.......Not the ball and coupler type.........So there is zero play with the trailer tongue and the spyder ........no clang clang clang .........no snap and release etc........When I take off, the trailer moves at exactly the same instant my Spyder does and stops that way too.............People have looked at it and remarked, " well that is certainly a smarter way of towing "..........Mike :agree:

PPS......Mine comes off in 2 minutes or less .....it also is a BOLT thru the AXEL design ............just sayin

I have had both an aftermarket hitch and a BRP hitch, i prefer the BRP hitch because it is easier to put on.

I installed a factory hitch on my 2014 RT because of warranty issues and I had a 2011 that I took the hitch off of and just put it over o the 2014.
It fit with no changes and was a factory hitch.

The BRP hitch also includes a mud guard, bringing the differential cost to about $100. Given the added ability to remove the BRP hitch, without pulling the axel, it's probably worth the extra $100 ($275 vs $425 on fleaBay)...

The factory hitch also comes with the wiring harness. That is a big plus. I looked at the aftermarket before I bought but after considering the wiring harness and all I figured I was only saving about $100 or so and went with the factory hitch. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

I went aftermarket. The hitch from Big Bike Parts (available from SL sponsor Value Accessories for le$$) http://store.valueaccessories.net/TrailerHitchCAN-AMSpyder.aspx and the wiring harness from them as well. The Big Bike hitch uses the bolt through the axle like the BRP hitch. I'm sure they have it resolved by now, but I know some people were having trouble with the BRP harness failing ( a ground problem I think I remember hearing). The harness from Big Bike is a five wire setup and my trailer was a 4 wire, just required adding two diodes for isolation and all was good. I added external perimeter lights on the trailer and internal lights with no ill effects. Obviously not a fancy 622 but all told I'm into it for about $600. Fine for the 3 or 4 times a year it may get used and the bonus is I get to spend the difference on other toys/upgrades.
