• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

High pitch whine

RDM

New member
I just picked up my new RT-S tonight. Drove it about 20 miles and put it in the garage. After shutting it off I can hear a high pitch whine coming from the front of the bike. I called the dealer five minutes before closing and the service tech said he has never heard of this. He asked be to take off/on the fuel cap but still whines. He asked me to start it, run for a few minutes, turn it off, still whines. After about an hour the whine stopped. I started it again and turned it off and the whine is back. Has anyone any suggestions?

Perfectly normal. I will try and find an old link explaining it. All the dealerships received a bulletin explaining it. Something about the throttle body staying closed to help with a warm start.

Fan

On my RT-S the fan will come on for a short time quite often when I shut the Spyder down. Does it sound like the fan?

My dealer gave me a copy of their "What's News" BRP Bulletin dated January 20, 2011. It is published by the Dealer Support Group.

2011 Spyder RT with Humming Noise

When prepping 2011 Spyder RT models, you may
notice a faint "humming" or "buzzing" noise coming
from the area under the center glove box after the key
is turned off. The humming will continue for 40 minutes
each time the key is shut off unless interrupted by
another start sequence or an MPI is connected. This is
normal and they will all do it. What you hear is the
Electric Throttle Actuator( ETC) holding the throttle
plates fully closed until the engine cools down. This
feature will allow a normal start up when the engine is
completely heat soaked.

I thought that the high pitched whine would be coming from inside the house...
"You've been looking at that thing long enough! Get in here and eat your dinner!! :roflblack:
