As I plan for a new year of riding I am looking for a new camera to mount I have had recommendations for the go Pro as well as the drift would like individual spyder lovers input because you people know all about it and I am open to what you say the main thing is I need EAse of operation I am not techie thank you thank you thank you have a great day

GoPro takes great videos but is NOT easy to use. Drift takes just as good of pics, easy to use and has a remote. You can get the Drift HD170 at a great deal right now too.

:agree: The GoPro set-up screen is so small that you can't see the blasted thing and I always ended up with a picture when I thought I was shooting Video. As Lamont stated the Drift is easy to navigate as well as use . Both mount well to your helmet or bike .:thumbup:

I can only speak about the gopro. I have the gopro HD hero. It takes great videos in high light conditions. The HD hero II is out and is for high and low light conditions.

Ease of set up: not so easy; the menu to go through to do a set up is cumbersome.

I've had my gopro attached to different parts of the spyder and there was always some noticeable shake in the videos. The only place with no shake was when I had it attached to my helmet.

Just to make it harder. I have the contour hd. Takes amazing video in full 1080p and is very easy to start the recording even with gloves on.

I looked at the Contour, Go Pro and Drift HD. All three take very good video.

What sold me on the Drift unit was the fact that it has a remote control. Being able to take quality pictures or record HD video using a remote control is the singular reason for me purchasing the Drift. The viewfinder, size and mounting configurations were just a bonus.

It's great because you can adjust the exposure rate and it has an outdoor indoor mode. :doorag:

I took Lamont's advice and...

replaced my Flip Mino HD with the Drift 170 from BH Photo... nice guys to deal with, too.

Flip to be on eBay soon (unless someone here is interested)... nice video but no remote.

Tough decision made

Had a tough time making a decision once I was offered that Gucci luggage but I sucked it up went for the Drift HD 170. great price at BH with free shipping no tax. Thanks for all the input and the offered Gucci luggage just had to pass on that one lollol

GoPro remote

In the March issue of Cycle World, page 85, there's an ad for a remote for the HD Hero and the HD hero2, supposed to have a 100 foot range and be able to control up to 100 cameras. Went to their website, (ampiotech.com), but couldn't get past the first page. Might be worth looking into.

The new Go Pro Hero2 is HD with easy to use menu, much easier to use than original or HD Hero. LCD back is available as an option and WI-FI Remote control back will be available in April.
Worth looking into before you buy some other brand.
I have all 3 models of GO Pro and really like the new HERO2

I'm sure you'll be very happy with your Drift HD170.
I had the Drift 170, and really like the remote control, but the pictures sucked.
I got the HD170 and it gives much better pictures. I set mine at 1080p. I don't have the zoom capability at 1080p but I haven't missed it, and the fisheye effect is less pronounced.
