• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help-Please advise, trying to replace airbox on 2008 GS.

I'm am retired, disabled, Veteran (non-retired), looking to replace my OEM airbox. I obviously am living on a modest
income. I am disabled enough that the Spyder is my only option. I've been reading all the threads and all mentioned,
cheaper solutions that have gone out of business. I am planning on doing the install myself. Looking for a solution, even
self made, between $100 and $150 (at most).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Dick Beistel

Little checking..

You should get in touch with JT's Machine shop, a sponsor on the home page and see if he can help out. He has what your looking for and if you PM him he should be able to make it happen for you. Kewl Metal had some but not anymore. Also check for sale here and on ebay, amazon, craigs list...

Being new here, I know I probably shouldn't do this but..............

Why on earth would a person in your situation be serious about doing something like this ????
Is the OEM air box actually broken or is there just some perceived performance gain to be had.
This situation makes no sense to me.

DON'T

Dick;
one word; DON'T....
that may be classified as 2 words, but just DON'T....
I've been around the SPYD3R world since the very beginning, and i have never seen, heard or witnessed ANY ADVANTAGES for changing the airbox... i actually have witnessed a BIG NEGATIVE... my pal BIG BIRD altered his, and afterwards his '08 GS ran rich and he couldn't get it back to normal... his 'mpg' went down from 32 mpg to around 25 mpg....
this is just my experience, maybe others have a different opinion....

:agree::agree::agree: ........ There are better things you can do for less money with less effort and equal or better results ....... if interested PM me ....... Mike ................... Because of the computer controlled systems on the Spyder it's EXTREMELY difficult to get any more performance for any of the engines .......... if your thinking 5 to 10 % OK , but trust me ONLY A DYNO COULD TELL THE DIFFERENCE ..... NOT SEAT OF THE PANTS POWER .................Mike

It will be "much" noisier if you switch out the airbox. But you will gain easier access to the front spark plug & it will unclog the space around there.

Don't DO IT!! You only change the Plugs every 25,000? But the Noise will be with you EVERY DAY if you DO?????
