Help! Battery wiring questions

Hey All,

I have a 2008 Spyder GS SE5 and am trying to wire in a GPS as well as my battery tender. I got the seat off and see a positive and negative bolt which I assume is directly connected to the battery. Can I just connect my gps and tender directly to those studs?

I don't even see the battery, and I'm guessing it would be a PAIN to get everything off to access it (I have the full Corbin setup and the body panels are basically hidden).

Any ideas? I have the front 12v accessory in the frunk which I suppose I could tie into, but again, it looks like alot of stuff would have to come off to access it.

Thank you!

Do not try to use the jump start terminals under the seat, at least not the negative one, unless you want big problems! The nut on the back will loosen, and you will not be able to tighten it without removing the body panels and going to other extremes. You cannot use the outlet in the front trunk for a battery tender, because it is switched...and is not connected when the Spyder isn't running. To access the battery you will need to remove the left side panels.

Well, would it best to wire the gps to the frunk power outlet to make it switched so that I would not have to turn the unit off?

So there is no easier way to get to battery? When you say left panel is that from standing in front of the bike?

If you want the GPS to turn off when the Spyder is off, the switched accessory (trunk outlet) wiring would work fine. Remember that the circuit is only 3 amps, so you can't hook up anything that draws a lot. Your GPS should be OK. Directions on a vehicle are always given from your position as a rider/driver. Sitting on the seat, the Spyder's left is your left. The battery is located directly behind that positive jump start terminal under the seat.
