• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Helmet locks. Really?

I find that if I try to use the helmet locks under the seat ('14RT) that the seat won't lock down. Is it just me?

Hi Guyver!
Here's one that I just KNOW you can do something about!
What we need, is a loop of cable that can be run through the helmet's D-rings, and hooked over the "locks".
If it was long enough to allow the helmet to rest on either the rider or passenger floorboards... :2thumbs:

Have you tried the frunk?

My wife and I have the ST-1 Hybrids, and the two of them fit nicely in the frunk...even with the removable jaw pieces connected. Just a thought.

As I see it..!!

you need some adapters or extensions for them to work...I think it was an afterthought but good pitch having helmet locks...:gaah:

Might be the strap length

I think it depends on the helmet strap. I could use the helmet lock with my half helmet, or my wife's full-face helmet. Yet, could not with my full-face helmet. It was this way for both the 2012 and 2014 RT. I have to admit I had not measured the straps to see what the difference in length is. Also, for the helmets that fit with the locks I noticed it did not matter what side I uses.

Sorry, but that won't work. If the helmet is not tight against the saddle, you can raise it up enough to get enough slack to un-loop the loop from the helmet lock under the saddle. I tried what you suggested a few years ago & thought I had a slick answer to the problem. It failed the Can-I-get-the-helmet-without-unlatching-the-seat-test.

:gaah: Thanks for trying!

:D But...
What if the loop was cut out of a piece of metal, and JUST large enough to fit down onto those hooks?
Would that help?

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Even my old 1976 Honda 750 Super Sport had 2 very functional helmet hooks under the locking seat. This was on a bike that if I remember correctly cost $1,00.00 new. You would think that on a $30K machine they could have figured something out that would work when all the storage compartments are full. :lecturef_smilie::gaah:

Helmet Guardian for us too!

We have used the Helmet Guardian locks on both of our Spyder RT Limited's. The BRP design has a lot to be desired! nojoke We have Nolan helmets and utilize the helmet "T" extension when using the Helmet Guardian locks. Just need to be a little careful when hanging the helmet on the exhaust side so it doesn't touch the exhaust!

Here's a couple of pics:
