A freight truck driver who delivers to my business was going to go dirt bike riding for the weekend and was tuneing or adjusting before loading to go and was trying something out right in front of his house his own dog got in front of the bike somehow caused him to go over the handlebars he died in the street head first right in front of his son 100 ft from the front door of his own house no helmet ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET

The Motorcycle Safety Foundation says that most accidents occur within 5 miles of your home and that you have a 75% greater chance of having an accident within the first 6 months of owning a new motorcycle. Not just being a new rider but getting a new motorcycle that you are not fully familiar with. It's all about prevention, protection and concentration. Be careful!
