• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Those with a Spyder ST, have you had the valve clearance check done? At what mileage? Were you having issues? If done, how long did it take? Manual says to have it checked I think at 15K, I’m at 30K no issues and never checked.

You can run a search at the top right side of the page. I don't think you'll find much! most people here have found that it is not a big thing. Good luck.

I am at 80,000 miles and never checked. I had Yamaha Ventures for 25 years before the Spyder. It uses the same type valve train and over 5 Venturers and 300,000 miles I never ever had to adj valves. This is a very stabil system.

Valve adjustment on the 998 V-Twin is very rarely needed at any mileage. We've never done one at the shop. It's just not necessary.

Update:
I never forget, I just remember late sometimes. We did do a valve adjustment on a V-Twin Spyder once. The customer insisted that we do it because the book called for it. All clearances were well within tolerance and we just charged him for labor to take it apart and check. To him, it was worth the piece of mind. For most, knowing that it's not needed is sufficient.
