Has your Dynamic power steering unit been changed ????

How can I tell if my DPS unit has been changed . My new dealer tells me my old dealer has it down as being changed on a date that I don't think my spyder was at the shop. I know they could have the wrong date on record . That's why I was wanting to know if I could tell by looking at the unit itself. THANKS

You should have received paperwork if the job was done. I save all my service papers from day one in a folder and they will go to the next owner in line.

If you did not knowingly take your :spyder2: in to have the work done, and the dealer put down that it was done--there could be a problem here. Some funny doctors do the same with Medicare billing.

Any dealer can tell if the DPS was changed Via the VIN # Looking at it won't tell you much!

Not haveing trouble that I know of. But since it was a safety recall issued by canam I want to be sure it was done. The new dealer told me it shows being done but I don't have any paper work and I always keep my paper work. I really don't think it was done I think someone made a mistake and put it down as being done.

What year is your Spyder?? If I'm not mistaken All later Spyder's 2010 and up came from the factory with the new DPS, The earlier Spyder owners were sent a REcall notice via mail to bring them in to have the DPS replaced.

As I recall, (pardon the pun) the recall was either August or September, 2010.

I purchased my 2010 RT S new in the crate in may of 2011, The dealer changed the DPS during the assembly of the spyder. they had the replacements in boxes and changed them out before handing them over to the customers. I don't think i have any paperwork on it as the dealer owned it when the recall came out.:dontknow:

I just looked up the service records on our Spyders (I too keep every one) and found that the DPS unit was replaced on my wife's previous 2010 RT in September, 2010. We took the Spyder in on 9/13/10 after being notified of the recall and the part didn't get into the dealership until 10/4/10.

Her's was an early model 2010 (#438) and, as I recall the ones made later were updated at the factory.

I wonder if the record that the dealer is looking at for your Spyder indicates if it was factory or dealer installed?
