• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

In each and every post of the 20K + he contributed here, every single one was coated with

one or multiple words of kindness, advice, expertise, wisdom, the right amount of humor, patience,

understanding and practical know how with his engineering mind.

You wanted to talk technical, no problem, or you needed it explained to a kindergartner mechanical

knowledge such as I, no problem.

I emailed Scotty Monday to let him know about our good friend Some Guy.

Here is his reply. I'm sure he won't mind me sharing it with you all.

I do feel blessed that I only live 25 minutes from his house.

Mark,

I had not heard. Thanks so much for letting us know. It is certainly a shock, much like Connie.

All is well here. How are things on your end? We're busy shoveling...even more than normal week before last, when the blower crapped out. Bad timing on that. I replaced the auger drive worm gear just in time for our thaw. I haven't started on a pole barn yet. I finally made a decision on the design and location, and was tempted by the bare ground in December, but I knew I'd get caught by snow and mud, so it will wait until Spring.

I have a motorcycle project in the basement (1960 BMW R27 single), but haven't done much but clean it up and evaluate it. I won't do a full resto, just clean it up, complete it, and get it running, but it still requires lots of rubber and fasteners, and probably wiring. Looks nice in the basement.

Take care, my friend, and thanks again for letting us know about Mike.

Scotty

I almost forgot. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTTY!!! You are greatly missed on Spyderlovers.

Thanks mxz600 for sharing his letter. I too read Fireflys sad announcement,
believe, Tuesday night about Someguy, . Also had the pleasure of meeting him.
I use to take a lot of video at these events and have been scouring to discover any shots that
someguy may be in. So far no luck, but we shall see.

Happy birthday your talents and expertise is certainly missed on this site
