• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hand guards on RS?

Was wondering if anyone ever tried installing after market hand guards. Was looking at a pair the other day, but was trying to figure out if they would fit. If anyone did that, please let me know. Thanks.

had a lot of work - you will find out that you have to reduce the maximum steering angle - or the hand guards will touch the shield - I used two different ones - liked the plexiglas version of BMW..
so .. sorry it does NOT work - try it with the handlebars on the maximum point left and right
here you see some pics ..

Thanks for the information and the pictures.

My wife runs handguards on her Honda VTX1300. They are something like the ones that Chris56 showed you in his pictures. If you do a search on bing you will find lots of dealers that sell them

What about the low profile "stealth" style like these motocross ones.

Presumably they are being used for wind protection, so you can dispense with the bulky aluminum framework. I used a set on my SV650 for winter commutes and it worked fine in conjunction with grip heaters.

Sweetie has an unused set off her dirt bike, I might try it as a rainy day project.

I looked at my RS handlebars today. Most guards have clamps for 7/8" or 1" round bars, but the cover and controls placement on an RS might make an install of handguards ... interesting.

I scored a pair of these, but they clunked into the mirrors when I put in a big turn, looking at risers as well now... BUGGER!

Mark at Madstad told me they have hand guard that attach to the mirrors on the RS. I couldnt find them on the website though.

Hey there. I have been using hard guards on my RS for years now. Primarily used to block the cold winds while I ride through winters, they also look neat. I install them every fall uninstall in spring. I use handle mounted Bark Busters. Easy to install and does not get in the way of handlebar controls.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Nice install but did you have to cut into any of the handlebar trim pieces to install? Got pics of the bracket? I have a set of dirtbike guards but when I looked at the Spyder's stock bars, there wasn't anyplace to mount the bracket without cutting something.
