There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hi,
I recently bought a spyder RT limited. Due to the problem with my right leg I like to convert it to hand break. I have heard from dealer that the hand break system is not good at panic stop!! Any idea or recommendation please??

:welcome: Check out forum vendor ISCI they have quality hand brakes, that many here will chime in with their satisfaction

Thanks a lot. This dealer in particular got the part from ISCI, but they went through so much pain to install the hand break that are no longer willing to install mine!!

There have been some comments that they don't work great for panic stops as they require a lot of force, or a double grab to apply the brake.

We put an ISCI hand brake on my wife's RT as she has right foot neuroma problems and couldn't put a lot of pressure on the foot brake.

The first lever did not allow enough leverage for her to apply it. We changed it out to a different lever that worked better with her smaller hand. But you still have to apply the same amount of pressure on the hand brake as you do on the foot brake and legs are just naturally stronger than hands.

To be really useful the ISCI unit needs to be power assisted.

We moved the brake pedal up a bit so she could get at it better and that plus the limited pressure she can apply with her hand seems to work.

Do not rely on the hand brake only for a panic stop unless you have Hulk Hogan biceps.

agree with double trouble

i have the hand brake on my rt, i installed it with a friend and it was not that easy to do, and i agree with double trouble about the panic stop you really need to step on the brake peddle for that the hand brake works well but only at regular riding conditions, ( slow )

The ISCI unit is a top notch, superbly engineered device. I installed one on my RS, and another on a friend's RT. They work just as advertised, and the RT version will take two people 4 hours and probably two six packs to install.. However, the grip width is a problem for small hands. There are now several alternatives to reduce the lever gap - including one from ISCI.

Personally, I could stop just as fast with the hand brake as with the foot brake. The ISCI units use the lever to operate the foot brake, and do not impinge on the workings of the brake system.

If your wife uses both to stop, she will become very comfortable in the system's ability to safely stop the Spyder, as she will be able to supplement the force her foot can supply. I would not hesitate to install one, and you don't need a dealer to do it.
