• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gulp, I just contracted for a new (old) 2023 RT Limited, now what?

The Dealer knocked about $4500 off of the original list price so I took the bait. We close the deal on or near Sept 3.

Yesterday I bought a HJC I100 Helmet and an Alliance mesh jacket.

I would like to have (really soon):

  • A 'plug in' battery tender I don't want to have to directly clip onto the battery every time.
  • Something to hold and power a GPS. I have an old Nuvi 3790 but will upgrade to a Garmin Moto model in the near future.
  • Something to hold a drink.

Any suggestions about anything would be appreciated. Unfortunately, I have zero mechanical skills...

Congrats on your new ride...I hope you love it and get up to East TN and all of NC to test it on hills and some curves.

Need pics!

congrats::congrats: and :welcome:

I recommend riding it about 500 miles before jumping into any accessories. At that point, you will be more familiar with the Spyder and the accessories will make more sense to you.

I have a Battery Tender Jr that I use with my Spyder.
It has a plug-in connector about 1 foot from the end that connects to the battery. It comes with standard clamps, but they have screw connectors on the clamp that you can remove, and then connect the 1-foot-long cable directly to the battery; and then run the connector end to somewhere that is easy to find when you open the frunk lid.

I'm quite happy with the mount I have from Arkon.com

* As for the plug in battery tender, I would suggest the "Dual Power Port". It has a 12V plug (like a cig lighter) and a USB Connection. The Dual Power Port can be used for the Battery tender which comes with: a 12 Foot output cord; spark proof alligator clips; and fused ring terminals. It also automatically switches from full charge to float mode; is equipped with reverse hook up protection; and a micro controller that constantly updates the charge sequence, so you will always know what step it is in. It is a light weight, compact, and easy to use battery charger for AGM, lead-acid, GEL, flooded or sealed maintenance free, or lithium batteries. The charger will keep the battery fully charged so that is ready to go whenever you are.

* Maybe a GPS holder. Some other folks should chime in on this.

* A cup holder on the handlebars or on the side by your knees.

I use the Battery Tender JR. on my bike all year round.

Welcome. What area of Fla are you? I'm in the Daytona/St Augustine area. I ride way too much to worry about a battery tender, unless it's going to sit for weeks and months, I don't see a need for one. On the GPS there should be a power port available just under the left side. That's where I hooked my power source for mine. As long as your unit works, I would just look for a car mount kit for it and use a Ram mount. I have a cup holder, but I am not really happy with it, but it works for now. Amazon is a good source for some of this stuff.

Kemimoto bottle/cup holder from amazon, good quality, reasonable price. A lesser priced alternative to those offered by Lamonster and others.

First off, Welcome to the Spyder Forum.
Second... nice choice on a great Ryde.
Third... I recommend you take the BRP Training Course.
Fourth... Keep reading all of the stuff on this Forum.
And finally... Ryde and Learn about Your Spyder.

Good Day for now.

If you haven't done it yet, take the Can Am new rider course. It's money well spent.

Before you leave the dealership, have them show you how to display fault codes. Should you have problems, knowing the fault codes is helpful. Take a picture of them with your cell phone. Also have the dealer show you where the power port is for a GPS. Then consider this wiring harness.

Ride the bike 500+ miles before buying anything else.

Enjoy your new bike.

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. For the record, I did take the MSF on-line course and the Can-Am Three Wheel Driving Course (6-7 hours of actual drive time on a Ryker).

I too would recommend the products sold by Lamonster Garage. He only sells well engineered and good quality products at a fair price, as well as being the site owner.
