• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

GS/RS upgrade to RTS

I am thinking of doing this as my wife would like to ride more, and i could enjoy all the extra GOODIES the RT has to offer. The big item for me would be the cruise control, then on to heated grips etc. For those of you that have upgraded, why did you and most of all, would you do it again? I am thinking of a 2012 RTS. thank you.

Very Happy RT Owner

I am 48 so never too young to own an RT. When I first started looking for a spyder I was looking at the spyder RSS model, all that changed when my wife expressed an interest in riding as passenger. I am so glad that we bought an RT-S SE5 as I have neck and back issues and the upright riding position is very comfortable for me. The air ride suspension, heated passenger grips, great passenger ergonomics (seat and backrest), lots of storage space and passenger floor boards make it really enjoyable for my wife to ride on for hours at a time. I really like the heated grips on board radio MP3 player and I am comfortable to ride all day with no neck and back pain.

I put 23,000 on my GS before I added the RT to the Stable and you will be surprized how well the RT Can Corner!
I can run my curvy back roads Just as fast on the RT because your higher and in a better position to "man Handle" it thru corners.
My GS is also Great on the back roads with the Elka,s and Ron Bar-BUT I feel much more exposed and more likely to get flicked off if I push it toooo much.

I recommend the BajaRo Bar if you get a 2012 or earlier RT because it does wonders in turning.
Most people test a RT (Like Me) with the Shocks on #3 and its Mushy!!!-- But put the shocks to #5 and add the Ron Bar and the thing handles great.

It would be extremely hard to pick one ---If I Had to keep only one!:dontknow:

The GS makes me feel like I,m a Kid on a Crotch rocket at 64 Years Old:yes: and The RT makes me feel Pretty Darn good too even if people look at me like I,m driving a Cruiser?:doorag:

I had around 60,000 miles on my first Spyder... a 2008 GS (RS) Premier edition and loved it. It was sporty, fast, etc....
Crashed it and got an RT.

Thing of it was is that I had my RS tricked out to me more RT-like for touring.

Wasn't sure about the RT at first.. but after riding one for a day (thanks Len) the decision was easy. The ride on the RT was so much smoother and better I couldn't believe it.

Is it as fast as my GS.... no... but it's pretty respectable.

With the RT you won't need to do as many mods to make it fit you... and I found it much easier to clean.

The ST wasn't quite out when I needed to buy a new Spyder, and maybe I would have been swayed towards one.. but looking at them now after having my RT for 5,000 miles.... I'd stick with the RT. The ST essentially seems like an RS with different front end.. and some mods under the hood, suspension,etc... but would still require a lot of mods like the RS to make it a touring bike.

Just my .02.

Change, not upgrade

Replacing a RS with a Rt is not really an upgrade, it's a change. Would it be an upgrade to go from a Corvette to a Cadillac? The RS and the RT are two different bikes. The RS is sportier and the RT is softer and a smoother ride. Ryde an RT and you'll see the difference. Choose the bike that is best for your situation. I personally love my RS and find the RT kind of boring . JMHO.
