Last weekend my wife and I participated in a motorcycle poker run to benifit Camp Hope which is located in Farmington Mo. The ride was put on by the Amvet riders post 48 in Desota Mo. The ride was 99.5 miles long and in the 3rd year of existance. There were 169 bikes in all with ours being the only spyder. I figured since Cowtown was only about 60 miles away there would be others.
Camp Hope was established in 2007 after the death of Chris N White, USMC who died serving our county on 6-20-2006 in Iraq. Camp Hope is a place that returning disabled veterans can participate in outdoor activities that they once enjoyed. 2 new handicap accessable cabins were dedicated this weekend in honor of the 2 other Marines that died that day. SSGT Ben Williams and Lcpl Brandon Webb ( my wifes son). Camp Hope is 100% supported by donations and the only paid employee is a blind lady who is paid $40.00 per year to work their website.
The next poker run is scheduled Aug 27, 2011, if anyone can make we would enjoy having you join us. Please visit their website and see the good things that are being done there to support our veterans.
