• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What are the pro’s and con’s of

1 direct hookup to battery
2 switch on - engine running
3 switch on - engine not running

Thx

1. Pro - GPS battery stays charged, to a point. Con - parasitic drain on battery, you must remember to manually turn off GPS to avoid parasitic drain.

2. Pro - GPS battery stays charged. Con - none, unless you don't want GPS on when you're toodling along roads you know in which case you have to manually turn off GPS.

3. Pro - GPS battery stays charged, to a point. Con - parasitic drain on battery, along with other accessories that may contribute to greater parasitic drain you must remember to manually turn off GPS to avoid parasitic drain.

FWIW, since BRP provides switched wiring for a GPS, using it minimizes parasitic drain on the battery except for refueling stops where the time the GPS is sucking battery juice is minimal. Don't overthink the problem; use the switched wiring provided and ride on.
