• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. GPS mount to Madstad windshield adapter plate

I'd like to add a GPS mount to my Madstad windshield adapter plate. Has anyone done this? If so what RAM base plate and ball mount did you use? Thanks.

gps mount

i also have the madstad mount and really like it. sure beats bolting the windshield to the body. i sure like your idea of mounting to madstad. i have ram mounts, so will try to attach asap. will let you know what i dream up. i like these types of projects, keeps the brain cells a-worken.

I didn't do it to the Madstad, but I did to the CHAD on Nancy's Spyder. I did not use the plate, I attached a ball to the adjusting bolt, but it would be easy to attach a ball with a flat plate mount to the Madstad plate itself, or drill a hole in it and attach a ball with a stud.

That's a great setup. I thought about attaching a RAM mount to the windshield bracket, but the Madstad Robobracket design is already so difficult to adjust as is I didn't want to make it any worse. I really like the Madstad windshield system but the setup is a hassle and there have been times I like to adjust it on the road for different conditions.

I'm going to mount the ball to the plate as you suggested but I wanted to see if anyone has done it already and optimized the setup. RAM offers so many options it's hard to decide which will work best.

It would be easy to mount to the plate. You could use a plate mount RAM, one with a stud, or even this same one with a 1/4-20 thread, bolted through the plate. There are an incredible amount of choices with RAM mounts. BTW, GPSCity has RAM mounts and brackets to fit a wide variety of GPS units. They ship quickly and have great service.
