• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Because of anticipated increased tourism this summer, Glacier National Park officials have introduced a $2.00 ticketed entry system for motor vehicles/motorcycles effective 28 May. This fee is in addition to the usual park entry passes; however, visitors with other reservations such as lodging or boat rental, will not be required to make a reservation. Reservations can be made at the online portal at https://www.recreation.gov/, or from the booths at West Glacier or St. Mary. Seventy-five percent of ticket reservations will be available up to 60 days in advance and the rest are set aside for two days in advance. Don't miss the opportunity to ride the Sun Road because you didn't plan ahead. Information courtesy of Adventure Cyclist magazine.

I missed bicycling it in 2008 because of a late blizzard and avalanche damage as the park service was racing to open it for July 4th.

Thanks for the heads-up. I guess we won't be doing that road this year either. The last time we tried, there was about a 4 hour backup because of fires.

Been on Going to to Sun road several times in all kinds of weather (except snow). The last time was 4 or 5 years ago when we travelled from east to west then turned around the next day and did it from west to east. It has always been crowded, even in heavy rain. Charging $2.00 per vehicle won't reduce any traffic. Just another way to part us from our money. Just my opinion..... Jim

No, but the reservation system will.

As has been said before “a tax by any other name.....is STILL A TAX”

No, but the reservation system will.

But the "passes" are good for 7 days. So we're not reserving road time. It's just another money grab IN ADDITION to what I paid for my Golden age Pass and what others pay for annual National Parks Passes. If you are staying at any in-park facility, going horse back riding, or are Indian, you don't pay..... Jim

..

No matter what it is a stunning ryde. The views are spectacular. I hit it after the bus tour ( next day ). Go early and it wasn't to crowded.

If any are traveling to Maine this summer. If you plan on going to Acadia National Park, there now is fee and reservation to go up on Cadillac Mountain. Just a heads up. Bruce
