• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

General Altimax question - why run 215/60R15 instead of 225?

I see where most are running the General Altimax 215/60R15 but I see in Tire Rack they have a 225/60R15 so why not use the bigger tire?

I'd be very cautious about that size increase .... there is very little room at the SWINGARM ..... I can think of ZERO reasons to try that size .... the 215/60 will correct the speedo almost 100% ..... the 225/60 might make your speedo read LESS than you are going ..... good luck .... Space. Your spyder may not have the space for it. Also rim width. The rim width needs to be compatible with the tire placed on to perform as it should. Using a GPS I found my spyder's OEM tire was off by just over 2 mph. With the Altimax 215/60R15 my speedo was off less than 1 mph. The tech that mounted my 215/60R15 Altimax said I had only about 1/2" clearance with that tire. Here's a chart to see the difference between the two tires.

:agree: ..... However, as Peter and I have stared on many occasions .... all these " tire size calculators " are based on " mathematical formulas " .... some tires may fit the " formula " , but lots of tires may NOT. .... If there is little to no room for error, the wrong choice may cause rubbing ..... I'd rather err on the side of caution ...... Mike

NO !!! .... the 205/60, is only a little smaller than the 215/60, but smaller will work out fine. ..... The Quatrac is one of if not the best WET road tire that will fit our Spyders. ...... Mike

I put the General Altimax 225/60/R15 on my 2010 RTSE5 approximately 20K miles ago. I ride 2 up 90% of the time, run at 18psi with NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.

I made my choice of tires from Joe and Ann's recommendations several years ago. They have boo coo experience and miles under their belts. Like you and Peter, you all have the time and knowledge coupled with experience to back up your recommendations, and many others on this site agree with those recommendations. Keep the good stuff coming.
