• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Most of us are polishing rydes and packing, expecting to emerge from our helmets at SpyderFest. I haven't even started to polish or pack :). Many know about Darth Spyder, my... Ahem.... Addiction. I was honored to win the lighting contest last year at SpyderFest. Albeit fun, Darth was a learning experience for me. And here is what I was working up to:
17,500 sqft; very green; over 28,000 LED lighting elements; DMX controls; Crestron building management; 200kw generator; advanced Daikin HVAC; home to 48 brilliant software developers; and lots more. It is done.

See you at SpyderFest!!!

What a beautifully designed and carried out building and grounds. May your business prosper and enjoy your other addiction :yes::clap::clap:

Nice to have you back on our shores, Phil. Of course I have been following the building progress all along from the links you have sent, and have previously offered my congratulations on a job well done. That is worth repeating, though, you did a splendid job! Gonna miss you at Spyderfest. :( We were looking forward to seeing you again. We will be busy vetting new builders, after firing our builder/designer this week.

Phil,
Congratulations to you and Bobbie on the completion of your beautiful new building. I know this will provide you with pride and pleasure for years to come. The energy efficiency of this building is remarkable.

:shocked: That's the nicest farkled-out building that I've ever seen! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown: :firstplace::thumbup:

It must be Leed certified?

There's a long story about LEED. If you're going to be at SpyderFest, find me and I'm happy to share it. The bottom line is I got tired of the cost to chase LEED points. It is a HIGHLY energy efficient and green building (the object of LEED) without going for the certification. I had a previous building that couldn't get built where we chased being LEED Gold. Cost was >30% too high. We dumped the USGBC LEED points, and the cost went down 28% and still got green.

As a professional software engineer :thumbup: for keeping your development in house..

harry

Thanks and I agree. We tried off shore development for limited projects and it all failed miserably. We MAY try it again for simple things where we need what we call "code monkeys" to simply type in repetitive code. BUT, it will be a last resort. We have a partnership with The University of Texas at Tyler CS department. We have their best students as interns to help with things like pure coding and testing (white box, smoke, and black box) and we then hire the absolute best and top candidates.

Awesome job on the new building :firstplace:

Thanks for helping our young engineers get a start in life rather than sending the work off shore :bowdown:
