• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gel Seat

So I've seen while looking at pictures of everyones Spyders occasionally a or what appears to be a gel seat that just attaches to the original stock seat... Does anyone know what this is and where I could pick one up or sometihing similar??

Thanks so much
Rich

Not sure why you are looking for a gel seat ? To reduce heat or iron butt , I had one and discovered it was nice for a few hours but I still got iron butt . Discovered my issue was the seat was too narrow . After upgrading to an ultimate seat , which is a little wider , I do not use the gel anymore .
Recommend if you have the iron issue ask Dave if the gel ones he has also adds a little width .
A happy behind is a happy rider !

I have a combo sheepskin/gel from Alaska Leather and also carry an Airhawk pad. I sometimes use one or the other and occasionally both. They do help extend the miles for those of us who cannot run the gas tank out in one sitting. These days, I opt for as much comfort as possible.

I've found my Airhawk to help a lot on long trips. The one we brought for my wife was returned, however, as she did not perceive a difference.

gel

see now i had the air hawk and didn't like it, i felt i was moving around way too much on it no matter how much or little air i had in it. but with the sheepskin gel seat i found it to be great and it was also cool as far as temp goes

THE SEAT THINGY

I must have one tough AS*, I bought a 2011 RSS in NC and then went to Lamont's BBQ :bbq:....I then drove it 700 miles to northern NJ , only stopping for gas etc. and this was on the stock SEAT.....I had changed the grips tho.......Mike

I have a butt buffer under a sheepskin . . . makes the ride comfortable . . . but I still like to get off, even for just a minute, every 90 minutes or so. Just stopping, and standing up, and I'm good for another 90 minutes.

Get a air hawk seat $80 on eBay you will like it

I hated the Air Hawk. Between the added height and the feeling of less control of the bike during maneuvers, I gave up after a few days with it and sent it back. Tried all sorts of air settings and never found one I could live with.

Would like to try an Ultimate seat but not going to fork over $1000 for a custom made seat only to find out I don't like it either. If it were an off the shelf part I could try and send back if did not like, would likely order one. Oh, and I do not like the gas cap access door they add. Just looks awful to me.
