Gear Number Not staying

Some times when I'am going down the road the gear indicator wil show 4th or 3rd gear when I was in 5th.
Anyone else hve this problem?

Sounds like a faulty or loose Gear Position Sensor. See your dealer for repair.

I have tried to down-shift (on the SE) from 4th to third and engine will briefly hesitate, rev, and downshift. Seems like a way to preserve the clutch mechanism or transmission or both. Didn't start until the last ECM update. Still, I think it runs better. There have also been times when I try to do the same and it would briefly indicate 3rd then go back to 4th on the display (without ever changing a gear). It does happen with the 3 and 4 gear positions.. I guess The Nanny Knows Best..

Mine was doing that, as well as showing E. I unplugged and cleaned the gear sensor contacts, and everything is fine. I have read that there are some faulty ones out there though.

sounds like the gear position sensor like Scotty mentioned. If you are able, check the connections and sending unit. If you are not savy, take it to the dealer..!! good luck..!! :thumbup:

Thanks for the input guys I will try the cleaning part 1st.
