I was in the left lane of a 3-lane highway yesterday, traveling approx 70 mph. Traffic slowed down a bit, so I downshifted from 5th to 4th...only it never made it to 4th...and it didn't remain in 5th either! I was left gear-less, and rolling on the throttle only produced a revving sound! Luckily, I was able to negotiate my way to the right shoulder due to a downhill grade in the road. The dash was aglow with an orange background and the letter "E" where the gear indicator should have been. The "check engine" signal lit up also. I could not shift into any gear. I shut the trike off, then restated it. I was able to shift to "true neutral" only by holding down the reverse button and pressing the down shift key. I got moving again and went directly to the dealer (approx 4 miles away) and sat in front of the place until they opened at 9am. The trike is there now, and I await their diagnosis and response. Before I hear from them, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what was the necessary correction/repair? Thanks much for your feedback...I own a 2011 RT-S with 1800 miles on the odometer and electornic SE5 shift.
