• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Gas millage with trailer

I know there as been lots of threads on gas millage, but this isn't a moan, this just some stats to share. My Spyder is a toy which I enjoy very much so it is what it is.

I use fuelly and Gas Cubby on my iPhone to track my gas millage, I had been getting about 32 MPG while breaking in the Spyder.

On my trip to Americade this weekend it was the first time taking the trailer, on average roads and average traffic it drops to 27/28 MPG

But running route 9 from Brattlebrough VT to Bennington VT, which is a very fast mountain road and I was really pushing it.
65 in tight corners coming off the mountain ( I know that does not sound fast but trust some of those corners are hairpins),
I was keeping up with the Harley's and I was towing the trailer :D
Also in stop and go traffic around Lake George and Warrensburg my Hotel was in North Creak some 30 miles north.
I got around 23 MPG :yikes: on average which is low but there was some aggressive mountain driving mixed with the stop and go. Not bad I suppose.

Straight riding with the trailer 27/28 but there's no fun in that.

There was a lot of Spyders around most waved, spoke to a few that where not aware on this forum so pointed them in the right direction.

Lots of fun , looking forward to Spyders in the Adirondacks and still on the fence about Magoog.

btw

This was my first time a the Alpine Lodge, North Creak, on my list of favorite off beat hotel/motels, very modern rustic approach. Extremely clean, very friendly, rooms are immaculate. Highly recommended.

MILEAGE WITH TRAILER

I just got mine on the road in a fully loaded tow. I averaged 33 MPG in the Mountains with twisties some Thruway at 70 + MPH and some slower State Highway 50 -60 MPH, very little city......all totalled 275 miles.....My trailer is homemade and only weighs 65 lbs.empty and maybe 185 loaded so I should be getting pretty good mileage......Normally I get 38 -39 MPG....I have an 08 G/S.....Mike.....

38-39 MPG:clap: I get 30 MPG on a good ride (2010 RS, SE). According to numerous MPG posts on this site, your bike is an exception. You should really smile when you ryde:yes::yes: Man I am happy for you:ohyea:

Harry - that sounds pretty reasonable. I basically ignore the gas mileage if I encounter stop and go driving. The MPG's drop to zero or something close to that, and it takes a lot of driving to bring the average back up after that. Your experience tracks pretty closely with a lot of others'.
