• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

While at Maggie Valley and Lamonts BBQ I saw a couple of spyders with a round disk that said Garmin. I saw one on a white bike in Lamonts garage, mounted on the dash in front of the windshield. Is that an antenna for the Garmin? Did not have a chance to ask anyone because I had to leave early. I have looked on the Garmin site but have not found a picture .

It's the Garmin XM puck, it plugs into certain Garmin models and allow you to receive XM satellite radio.

I had one with my old Zumo 550, I could move it between the car and Goldwing to have XM radio in both at one cost.

The Zumo 660 that comes with the Spyder limited model can not accept the puck as it as no software to work. The Zumo 665 comes with the puck and as the built in software.

when BRP struck the deal with Garmin the 660 was top of the range, the 665 came out later and cost more.

:agree: With the SiriusXM Satellite 665 Garmin, you can add the weather and traffic reports to the subscription. It is a nice feature to have... I have it on my :spyder2: and love the weather and traffic reports as well.

The GXM 40 for the Zumo 665 or the GXM 30 for the Zumo 550, aka 'The Puck', is a smart antenna from Garmin that receives and processes XM services (subscription required). The Zumo provides the graphics interface for the XM services, this is why the Zumo model is important - it works with the 665 and not with the 660. The GXM can be purchased with the 665 or separately. Here is a link... https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/on-...ccessories/xm-receivers/gxm-40/prod15004.html Some place their antenna in plain sight, others store it in bags on their dash. I mounted mine beneath the lid of my trunk. It works great and is never seen.
