Fuel Mileage 2013 RTS

I went for a little ride yesterday ( 365 miles ) and I was getting an average of about 25.5 mpg. My RTS is still stock except for a K&N air filter. I wanted to know it that's the norm or is there something I can do to get better Mileage. I was thinking about a Power Commander or something like that. I was riding by myself. Thanks

Depending on how fast you were going, gas milage on my old 998 cc engine was anywhere from 20mpg to 28mpg. My 1330cc RT-S gets 30-40 mpg again depending on speed and terrain

Has it had the heat recall done? Many have reported better mileage after those mods. 29 to 32 on our 2012. Keep the RPM's up around 5,000 for best results.

Does seem low but then there are many variables...Though mine is an RS and therefore get better mileage the range was from 25 to 40. I usually average around 30 to 33. The RT are usually lower. How many overall miles do you have on the spyder. As you know it gets better along the way. :dontknow:

I have a 2011 RTS and get around 29MPG when I drive conservatively (55mph or less). If you get above 70 MPH, then the wind drag really kicks in.

My 2012 RTS gets between 25-32 on a good day. I too did the K&N, not sure a PC would help, never heard encouraging words on the forum. Let me know if you get one and it helps. Like the other post suggests, the 1330 provides the solution. I'm just not ready to bite the bullet.

Most of the fuel mileage questions ultimately come down to the dance that your right wrist is going with the load grip... nojoke
Has the bike had the Recall Measures addressed yet? That often also yields a nice increase in fuel economy.
Adding the Freer-flowing K&N has probably hurt your mileage a bit. The engine is getting more air, so it also needs more fuel...
Power Commanders will also hurt your fuel mileage: they're usually set up to throw more fuel into a lean-running engine... :shocked:

I've got right at 3600 miles on it. I was running usually 75 to 85 MPH. Yes it has had the New air vents ( recall ) done on it.

My experience with 2 RT's with the 998 engine. 2010 and 2011. Both averaged 31 mpg.

Both averaged 31 mpg.

My experience with 2014 RT-S with the 1330 engine. 39-41 mpg.

I have a 2013 RT Limited and after 14000+ miles I confirmed that going 70 and under will increase the MPG as well as lowering the rear shock will allow you to fill the tank giving more mileage, I always ran with the rear shock 2nd hardest level due to riding two up most of the time. Even riding two up we were getting well over 30 MPG on the roads in WV.

My 2014 RT (1330) was getting only 31-33 mpg until it turned over 8,000 miles... then (almost like magic) the millage jumped up and since has continuously gotten 39-41 average....and on a few occasions 44mpg. I now have 19,000 miles.
One of the reasons I did not buy a 998 was fuel economy. The 1330 is a much better engine in my view.
