Frunk front fascia gap - body repairs

Some of you may recall someone backed up into me and then took off into traffic. I got all the parts and have everything installed now except I have to re-drill the holes for the bump skid. The damage was pretty minor at the end of the day but $550 later I now seem to have one last potential issue. I am wondering if anyone can take a picture low down facing the front of the bike on an F3T or L. I have a pretty large gap between the bottom of the leading edge of the frunk lid and the front fascia. I have gone over everything with a fine tooth comb and can't see anything out of alignment from the accident. It was about a 3 km an hour hit and the damage was all just cracks that you wouldn't have noticed from a couple feet away. There was no damage to the frunk lid and the hinges etc look perfectly straight. Given they are screwed into a plastic body piece I would expect to see if they had misaligned but everything look like it had just come from the factory.

Any suggestions on adjusting the frunk lid so it sits lower along the front leading edge?

Image1.jpgThere is a gap there to accommodate the signature light from BuRP. It is a big light about 3/4" tall. Can't get a photo for you right now.... well maybe... Gmail is sloooooowwww lately.

Frnk Lid Gap

Thank you Rattlebars. Makes me feel a bit better. Wondering if anyone could post a similar picture of an F3T or L without the light. The gap on my bike is large enough that I can see the black plastic/rubber gasket inside the frunk area.

Does anyone know if there are any adjustments that could be made to drop the leading edge of the frunk lid some, say a 1/2 inch maybe? I should note that when I replaced the front fascia and grill that the front fascia lines up perfectly with the to side body panes of the front frunk are so I am pretty sure there is nothing out of alignment and as I said before the damage was pretty minor so I don't believe the issue is that something else was bent or damaged. Thoughts? Some pictures of other front ends with out the signature light would help me confirm I actually have an issue.

Right now I can tell however that water would easily get into the front area of the frunk when riding in the rain and I have to think bugs and all other manner of crap will get into there as well.

Frunk Lid Gap Photo

You should not be able to see the gasket. I'm headed to the bike shop l8r today will see what I can do.

As luck would have it there is recent post with a video about removing the F3 grill. The bike is on a lift with the grill removed and you can see there is definitely a gap that can be seen between the leading edge of the frunk lid and the fascia. It is hard to tell if that gap is similar in size to what I see on my bike but it looks a similar size. In terms of seeing the gasket I should say I could see it if I shine a flashlight in the gap, i.e. I can't see it with naked eye. I have another photo I found but for some reason when I attach it I cannot expand it to see any detail but I can on my computer. The gap in that photo is more pronounced then the one I have attached and it is wider at one side than the other.

Here is the photo I clipped from the video that shows the gap. So I now believe the gap is "normal". It really it is only seen if you are crouching down in front the bike. Of course to me it was very obvious as I am a foot away form the area installing the fascia etc and basically kneeling in front of the bike. I am sort of surprised however as one would think at speed water can get in there?

As far as I can tell the only adjustment to be made on the F3 frunk lid is for the locking pin which seems to have no impact on the front of the frunk. The hinges themselves seem to have no adjustment capabilities.
