There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. FRONT TIRE ON 2014 LIMITED

CHANGED REAR TIRE TO KUMO OVER LAST WEEK END. WHAT TIRE IS EVERYONE USING ON THE FRONT. I HAVE A 2014 RT FRONT TIRELIMITED

I always had decent luck with the OEM Kendas up front...
But lately; I've been looking at options.
Kimho and Michelin; both offer some 155/60-15 front tires that would work just fine.

I put on the Federal Evo on mine and they seem good so far with about 4,500 miles on them. The price is great at $63 each. Hal Biker Doc has them on his also.

I forgot about the Evo... :opps:
Ann,
We've heard some reports about them giving a harsh ride; what has your experience been?

I put the Khumo Solus KH16 tires on the front wheels if my 14 RT-L. OEM Kenda tires were cupping so I replaced them. Also my slight drift to the right (even after two laser alignments) has gone away with the Khumo's up front. Very happy with them.

OR THESE BAD BOYS

:ohyea:.....The widest tire that will fit is a 185 / 55 -15......I just bought and mounted a Toyo Proxes T 1 R of this size on my 2014 RT...It is a " V" rated tire with a UTOQ of 280 excellent wet and dry traction and best of all $ 57 @ Tire Rack + shipping .......PS you will need to put TWO thick washers on the front fender bracket for clearance ......The rear bracket has plenty .......Mikeguyver

"80+"??

The insurance guy in me; just swallowed his tongue!

NO THEY DON'T

...He's got different fenders; that fit tighter to the tire...
:gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:......Bob I reported this a few times already......and in my last sentence above ......It's the front brackets that are the ISSUE.......The fenders ...the plastic is NOT the PROBLEM..........there is actually MORE clearance with the NEW style fenders............The distance between the top of the tire and the plastic is STATIC ....ie. it doesn't change..........if it's 1/2 inch at rest.....it's 1/2 inch AT ALL TIMES ...........The fender and tire are rigidly connected like the Hot Rods , back in the day ...........are we on the same page now ..............Mikeguyver

I will rephrase Bob's response....

The 2014 RT Limited fender assembly including bracket, inside shield and cover, will not clear with the 185 width tire. I tried it and adding a couple washers was not gonna fix it. The old style fenders without the inside shield have more clearance inside. Especially at the outer edges of the fender where it curves in around the tire.

Thanks!
I've measured the clearance on both fender types: right side by side...
Your old-style fenders had almost an inch and a half of vertical clearance down to the tire...
The new style: less than three-quarters of an inch.

Mike,
You must think that just about all of us are idiots in here... How can you stand to be so brilliant; all on your own? :roflblack:
It's lonely at the top; ain't it? :D
Of COURSE I know that the fender and tire move with the suspension... Have you found anybody in here, that thought otherwise? :dontknow:

REALLY

Thanks!

:gaah:....Well at SPYDERQUEST I am almost certain that ....RON's crew ( He was a vendor there ) were mounting 185 / 55 -15 front tires on RT's with the NEW fenders...? ? ?.........and Bob you appear to TRUST Him with your Spyder ???????..................Mikeguyver

I have also never said that they wouldn't fit; I've have just expressed my concerns about the amount of space that is available with them...
And DO trust Ron & Derek; :2thumbs:
But I also have a "comfort level", in which I must operate...

NOT ON MY FENDERS

:hun:......JC, what tire ( 185 / 55 -15 ) did you use on your test...............All 185 / 55 tires are not exactly alike ( in size ) due to variances in the shape of the MOLD and what the sidewalls are made of and the number of PLY's ......................Mikeguyver

... But if it's THAT close; that a different brand tire has interference problems, I'd be a bit concerned about just how little clearance there is.
Granted: Clearance is clearance... but what if you have a flat on the road, and can't track down the right BRAND tire?

A 185/50-15 , would be WAY closer in the diameter and circumference measurements...
It's only .2" of an inch taller... :D
(22.1, versus 22.3)

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

:dontknow:.......I'm pretty sure I know what you would do Bob....................Me , I would plug it ( I carry a kit for this )......add air , and continue on my way...........It's a car tire , that on the SPYDER is way understressed .........I have NO concerns about putting in a plug ..........and if you get a flat ....the tire is going to get WIDER on the bottom , at the road surface , not near the fender brackets ................Mikeguyver

:dontknow:.....That's great info ...........However that's not what JC is referring to ...........IMHO ......Mikeguyver
