There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Front shock adjustment

Did I miss something. I looked in the operator's guide and it made no mention of using a jack; so, I adjusted without the front end being jacked.

In the dvd, it says to jack up the front end. I think this is the way it should be done. The cam on the left hand side is a little screwed up now.

I drove the spyder home Tuesday and noticed a little pull to the right and didn't think to much about it. Yesterday someone driving a Ducatti said my front tires looked a little low. I checked today and the fronts were at 12# and the back at 22#; now at 20# and 30#. When checking the tire pressure I noticed the two front shocks were not set the same. The right one was at position 1 and left at position 3.

The moral of the story is don't trust the dealer to prep the bike properly. You should always double check.

You don't need to jack the bike to change the front shocks...there are 5 settings and the dealer likely left it on 3...use the tool from the tool kit to latch on and either tighten/loosen them...make sure they're the same side to side.

When I first had the bike, 3 was waaaaay too low...the bike would chatter on ramps and sharp turns...I put it on 4 and now it sticks to the road much better...

How about the rear, what is a good setting for a single rider at 260lbs.

I weigh in at about 250 - 255 and I have my shocks set to the max all the way around, 5 in front and 7 in the rear. Some of that is based on how you like the ride to feel. I don't mind the stiffer feel, the stock setting of 3 all around was too soft for me.

There have been guys that broke the cam when they didn't jack it up and take the weight off. Best to jack it up. :doorag:

:agree: Same weight and same settings. Little bumpy sometime but getting used to it. Certainly corners better.:2thumbs:

Rear shock

I'm going to adjust the rear shock tonight. I'll have the bike jacked up. My question is- how do I know when the shock is fully extended? This may sound like a stupid question, but I don't want to ruin anything.

Thanks

I raised the rear of the Spyder at the extreme rear of the frame (not under the swingarm) so that the rear tire was off the ground. The swingarm was hanging freely. I think that removes the most pressure / tension from the adjusting mechanism.

It says to jack the bike until the shock is fully extended. How do I know when it is fully extended?

Yesterday I placed the jack just ahead of the rear tire and jacked until the tire was off the ground.. I needed a longer extension so I stopped. With the tire off the ground, is the shock fully extended?

If you have the jack under the frame, and NOT under the swing arm, the shock is fully extended.

+1 If you put the jack just in front of the rear tire, you were probably on the swingarm. That would not allow the shock to fully extend. If you did that and got the shock adjusted, no worries.
