• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Front brake pad changeout - tip to make job easier!

I should have taken some pics but the job went so quick and easy I didn't have time! Lot less hassle than the rear brake!

I don't know about the other models of Spyders but on my RT you can short circuit the instructions in the service manual and as shown on a couple of Youtube videos. That is, you do not need to remove the calipers from the steering knuckle. After you take out the pin and spring take a screwdriver and push against the pads on both sides of the rotor to push the pistons back. Pull the old pads out and put the new ones in. Replace the spring, pin, and clip, and pump the brake to set the pads and you're done!

I did the left side in about 1/3 to 1/2 the time I spent on the right side by not removing the caliper from the knuckle.

I had a bit over 26,000 miles on the OEM brake pads. One pad in the rear was paper thin. One pad in the front had worn through to the point where one end of the pad was metal to metal contact with the rotor. No significant damage was visible so I'm not changing the rotor.

Damn, these Spyders are hard on rear tires and brakes!
