• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

good evening. really two questions. any detrimental effects by removing those pesky bottom splash plates? ( secured by the 8 mm bolts) and has anyone tried to mount a front brake lever and if so what manifold did you use to tie into the master cylinder. tks bob

brake lever

Response to the first question:
Lot's of people have removed them for apparently good reason and have reaped numerous benefits.
I have a philosophical viewpoint to believe it's not a good idea.
But that's another thread or dozens of threads.

As to the brake.
ISCI, a forum sponser and builder of incredibly Good Stuff, has a kit that I have put on two Spyders.
It's pricey but it does the job and with brakes I wouldn't mess with anything jerry rigged.

The one caveat is that it does take a fairly strong hand to apply full braking power.
I use it for normal stops and to initiate brakes in a panic situation but always apply the foot lever when I need to stop pronto.

You've got the brake lever described perfectly. I was after them for almost a year and they now offer a better brake lever. It's still not perfect, but the hand brake now is what I would say is "operational." It's geometery is changed and it's easier to operate, but with arthritis in my hand, it's not for emergency stops. I got it because of my bad hip. So, I use both and it works out fine. ISCI is a terrific company and wonderfful people make it happen.
