Yesterday, we met up with some friends to cruise for a late breakfast and a run to Sardis Lake in north MS. Lots of great backroad riding in that area! She rides a 2010 RT Limited. Her husband recently traded a Yamaha Royal Star for a Tri-Glide. It's really nice, too!
So; out east on Hwy. 302, the speed limit is 65mph. There is a stoplight where 309 crosses 302. We approach the intersection as the lights turn red. My buddy on his Tri-Glide pulls up next to my wife & I. It's about 10:15am. Not much traffic around.
He looks over at me like he wants to race from the light. I say jokingly, 'You don't want any part of this'. Here we are side by side at the light. His wife is right behind my wife and I.
The light turns green, and we go! By the time we hit 65-70mph, and I backed off, the HD had fallen back. By 3rd gear, it was no contest. I was actually kind of surprised. He told me when we got to the restaurant, that he was hitting the redline through the gears. The Spyder wasn't even close to redlining.
I have never raced before, and certainly won't be making a habit of it. But; I must say, my RT-S impressed the Hell out of me!
This afternoon, it goes in for it's 600 mile service. It will have a little over 1,500 miles on the odometer, however.
What a machine! On the way home, we rode quite a bit of interstate, running north from Sardis. The RT-S just continues to impress us. My wife is absolutely in love with it, too! We rode 220 miles yesterday.
