• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Freaking dealers and their half a** mechanics.

When we bought the 2011 RTS-SE5, I went ahead and got the Best warranty and a service contract which included the 600 mile and 3 additional services. Whichever I chose as long as it was done within 3 years. Dealer did the 600 mile. I did the 3000 wanting to save the last service at 14000 that the dealer would do. Well on the 9K service all went ok except the oil level. I always check after we get home and the mechanic had to of put ALL 5 Qts in. I had to syphon 1/2 Qt out. Last week I took it in for their last dealer service, 14k miles.

Was in a hurry so didnt have time to look it over before I took it back. After getting home I see the hardware for the left footpeg castings, that you loosen to remove the blk plastic piece are literally all the way out. I really dont know how I didnt see them. I then find that the mecahnic left the front plastic piece that you remove to hook up the laptop is at the bottom of the fronk. Then find a small, size of a quarter, oil spot on the garage floor.

I removed all of the left side panels to find oil all over the damn place. It looks like he just pulled the filters and let the oil just run everywhere without cleaning it up. Which the 35 mile ride home made it worse. So now I went and used a gallon spayer filled with Simple Green and began to spray all the places that I could get too. Tomorrow I will do some more cleaning.

If I could choke him through the phone I would of today. I will be calling them tomorrow. It just ticks me off for others to not give .02 about others bikes and a general lack of integrity. I doubt the rest of the 14k miles was done either. I asked him about the spark plugs and he said he already threw them away.....yeah right!

It will drive me nuts not knowing for sure if it was done correctly and I will prob do it all over again later next month......ok, rant over.

Atleast now I know Im doing the rest of the services myself except for the items I need the dealer for and it wont be back there again.

I feel for you because I'm going through similar crap with my dealer too. They stripped the thread to the oil filler/level cap, scratched up my wheel when replacing the rear tire and now I'm having problems with them responding to warranty work on the right side case. I'm assuming we're with the same dealership chain.

My issue is with Desert Dog out in Fountain Hills. Havent ever dealt with Ride Now. I normally go to Apache Motorsports fo most of my stuff.

I hope you contact the dealers to complain. :wrong: I hate sloppy techs. :banghead: Tom :trike:

Sorry..!!

it is sad..wish they had a final inspection before they released the machines back to the customers. Someone other than the tech working on it. Sometimes there the only game in town but like you said, now you will take care of things. Hope the rant eased you some. Always here to listen, have been through it all...!! :gaah:

Did you pay cash or credit card...

As for the full service, take the effort and pull one spark plug for a look. The dealer will defend his guy, but if the spark plug was listed as replaced and it wasn't, I would not pay them.

Honestly though, it does not seem to matter, could be a car, a boat, motorcycle or even airplanes, I have seen and worked with some serious hacks that I would not let them work on my lawnmower.

You're right that it is across the board, especially warranty work. Warranty pays them minimal time and we all know things show up that take more time, so these guys cut corners wherever they can to make a buck by the end of the day. :(

 I'm sorry to hear that your dealer's tech "dropped the ball" here... :gaah:
I have found that if I hang around the service bays; I can see an awful lot fo what they do... I also pop in, and make "Just enough" polite conversation, to give me more time to see what I can...
But... YOu're balancing on a Knifeblade when doing this... You can't make an obvious pest of yourself; a polite question or two during the servicing is about what you'll get; so keep your eyes open.

It was a paid service program when we bought the Spyder. So in all sence iy was already paid for. Gey 4 services of my choosing within the 3 years.

Had a similar issue a few years back on our 2010 RTS. Took it to the dealer for oil change and some minor warranty work. Dealer called just before closing and said bike was ready. Picked it up, got home and looked it over. Had oily hand prints all over the left side panels and oil drips underneath. Opened the frunk and found the inspection panel laying in the bottom along with several tools. The liner was loose. And the one warranty issue was still not fixed. Took it back the next morning and showed it to the service manager. He said the bike wasn't ready for pickup and didn't know why I picked it up. I told him who called me and showed him the completed work order. He said that the bike shouldn't have been sent out like that. :duh:

Did you take pictures? That is the best way to document what happens. This was sloppy work for sure, no excuse. The pictures can then be handed to the owner as evidence of the quality of work his people do. I preform my own service except for tire replacement at my dealer. I always do a walk around of my vehicles when having any work done (just in case). My local Spyder dealer is very good and dependable. (East Tennessee ATV). I don't blame you for being upset.
