• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well, the experiments with the rattling heat shields on my Hindle didn't go quite the way I had planned. For some reason the bolts Doc sent me were too long for my Hindle, and I could not get them to work. I took it over to my father in laws and we worked on it for a while. We tried new rivets for the rear shield, but they would pop before even getting the shield tight. Frustration kicked in and we searched for a workable bolt, nut, and washer, solution. What we came up with was not pretty at all.

Luckily my wife, Love2Ride, came to the rescue and did some modifying of it on her own which made it look a whole lot better than it did. It may not be the best looking Hindle around, but I can pretty much guarantee the heat shields will never rattle again. :D

I wouldn't bet on it. dltang's heatshield was rattling but the rivets were on tight. The tabs that the heatshield is riveted to have broken off the muffler. :sour:

I almost took care of that situation last night. :gaah: I was going to break all the welds and just run it without the heat shields. I let my father in law talk me out of that one though.

I was hoping to make it last until I can get the HMF black and yellow carbon fiber can, but after the issue you have had with fitting it I am not so sure about that choice anymore either. :helpsmilie:

See if you can contact TJ on the West Coast Spyders board. He did an awesome rebuild of a Hindle. If I remember right, he spec'd the screws, packing used, paint used, etc. I don't see it in the "How To's" anymore...the site has been hacked a few times and probably got lost. If you leave a post, I bet he'll get back to you.

The screws that Doc sent me were ones he got from TJ. They were very nice, and I wish they would have worked as it would have looked a lot better. Perhaps there is something different about my Hindle, but those bolts were too long for me to use. My heat shield brackets did look a little warped, and that may have been done by the shop that put the last set of rivets in it. :dontknow:
