• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Found this BRP oil - Maybe Can-Am didn't get the memo??

OK .. My intent is NOT to start another oil thread :) . I was just perusing Amazon for some oil, and came across this BRP product. BRP/Can-Am still recommends the use of 5w40 oils in their 1330cc machines. Funny thing is, a Spyder is clearly pictured on this bottle of BRP 10w50 oil for sale on Amazon (fourth to the right). Maybe Can-Am didn't get the memo ?? :)

The picture of the Spyder, along with the picture of the PWC, is clearly grayed out on the bottle. Meaning Not Applicable to that machine. Most all XPS bottles have those same sets of pictures. The colored in ones on a bottle are the machines that particular oil is applicable to. As shown on this bottle….

Maybe the Mods should just lock this thread.

Ahhh.. Good catch !

Very strange……. The color in is a definite yes like snow belt says. Been that way since they started. It used to be the color jug meant type till about 5 years ago. Then they went with the standard black jug with icons. What’s strange is I had a SXS AND OUTLANDER in 2015 and a new 2019 1000 SXS require 5-40? My seadoo is definitely 5-40. I’ve had every line BRP ever sold-water, snow, off-road and street and many of them. Always switched to amsoil accept for the jetski. Not sure what that oil is for honestly in the first picture from OP.

Quick search just answered my question……..used for hot quick burn up application. Otherwords………RACING!

Nice catch.

I am in favor of letting it run for awhile.

The 10W50 does not say it is for wet clutches.

Snowbelt Spyder's Amazon link says that one is good for wet clutches.

I needed a magnifying glass to read it

ARTraveler, thanks for that. Maybe I'm just strange, I read oil threads while other just bash the you know what out of them. Maybe I should be bored with them and be in the majority. Oh well.....

Has Can Am updated the bottles to show it is "MA", or "MA2"? Previous bottles didn't. :lecturef_smilie: Tom :spyder:

On the same Amazon page is the XPS 4 Stroke Synthetic Blend Engine Oil 5W-40 - Gallon - Can Am Spyder Sea Doo $61.99 a gallon. The Spyder image is not greyed out on the container and the description states: XPS synthetic 4-stroke oil is specifically engineered to meet the particular lubrication requirements of Can-Am, Spyder and Sea-Doo vehicles equipped with Rotax 4-TEC 4-stroke engines.

That is the OEM BRP/Can-Am oil. It is a synthetic blend.
