Found a box

on the front porch this afternoon. Took it in the house. The wife said "I know what you're going to be doing tomorrow". What was in the box? The Ron bar for her '14 RTS. Oh, and spark plugs and wires for my '12 RTS. So I guess Monday is going to be busy.

No. They probably left it on Saturday and I didn't see it until Sunday. We don't use the front door much. It was sitting behind the bench and the box being white blended in with the siding. Been working on the sway bar today. Believe it when Ron say's you need 22" of clearance under the Spyder. I have to get another jack :banghead:. Mine comes up short.

Got another jack. Jacked up the Spyder with plenty of cylinder left. Got the old bar out. New bar in. One freaking mount block bolt hole wont line up :banghead:. So tomorrow I'll take it out and trim it down. Why is it a simple two hour job...

It's finished

Finally got it done this morning. Removed the offending mount block and took it to the shop. Sanded about 1/16" off of it. Back to the Spyder, installed, bolt slid right in. Installed Heim links and paneled it back up.

Now, was this a faulty product? No. I took the block from the other side that fit with no issues, and the bolt would not go in it either. It's just the little intricacies of the beast called Spyder. Ron puts out a quality product. So even if it was a faulty part, he would have made it right. That's what he does.

One little add to the instructions included for the 2014 RTS, take the bottom splash guards off. They're held on by three plastic rivets. Makes it a lot easier to get to the bolts in the mount blocks.

Another thing. Don't take on major work on your Spyder while you have contractors at your house. :gaah:Just as sure as you lay down under the Spyder and pick up a tool you'll get "can you come here and see what they want?" "Can you help me get the cats in the bedrooms?" Can you... :banghead:

Now it's time to tear mine down and change the spark plugs and wires. "Can you..."

my dealer installed my bar and links when the bike first came in, he said it took him close to four hrs to do it. no charge but how long do you figured it took you

I guess if you condensed it down to straight through work, probably 5 hours. Took me right at 3 hours to change the spark plugs.
