Fog Light Switch

So, I just installed OEM fog lights on my 2012 RT AC. Here's my question: The on/off switch lights up a bright blue all the time--doesn't matter if the fog lights are on or off. Is that normal? Just wondering if the same is true with machines that had the fog lights installed at the factory? Thanks!

I believe this is normal. With the ignition on or bike running, all of the switches light up (however, not blue) on my 2012 RTS. Dale

Thanks for the reply. Since the fogs are brand new on the machine I wasn't sure if the switch lit up. And yes--it is definitely BRIGHT blue!

need infor on your fog light install

I just left my dealers after looking at the BRP fog light accessory. I asked my favorite salesman how difficult the install on my 2012 RT A&C and of course he did not know. He then asked one of the mechanics about the install and was told it was at least 5 hours of shop time because the frunk and a LOT of panels have to be removed. He also said the lights mount to the frame and are difficult to install/adjust.

Looking at the lights through the plastic container, I ssee some tabs on the light assemblies that apparently go into slots. I see nothing that looks like it mounts to frame of the Spyder.

I think I am getting bad info from the mechanic. Shop time is $110/hr so I just can't see paying around $1K for the lights and install. How hard is it anyway? Does anyone have the instruction sheet for the fog lights? Other BRP items I have bought have time estimates for install on the instructions.

10 & 11 model RT's All came with BLUE backlighting & BRP switched it to orange for the 12 model year, not sure about the 13's tho :dontknow:

Not too bad..

Just put them on the wifes 2011 RT. Knew that the frunk came off so I waited until the weather warmed up and a couple of nice days. I'm getting better at pulling off the front and side panels. A yard of spare carpet came in handy to set the frunk off on and i used a creeper as well to move it around on. Only dumped it upside down once and only broke one plastic tab pulling the metal clips off to release the matte black plastic panels. The one tab on each side helps keep the tupperware attached with less flopping although the main foglight mounting points used "nested" nuts into main mounting bosses in the main body of the frunk, not the frame. Went back together pretty easy with only a little attention to the 5 plastic Lok rivets and two screw on each air duct that needed to be carefully matched up to fit right. I did it one afternoon and put back on in a couple of hours the next morning, but have found that if I go slower, I mess less things up like the plastic tab. I used two plastic levers to lift the Lok rivets loose- they might make a special plier tool to aid that, and I did Blue threadlok the 6 main bolts holding the frunk to the frame as well as the numerous Torx head screws. Good project- looks good.:banghead:

I did the fog light install myself on my 2012 RT. I also installed the 12V plug in the frunk while I was at it. At first it was a little intimating-all the panels than needed to be removed. but I went slow and took it easy. The most difficult part to me was all the electrical connections that needed to be undone. I was afraid of not getting them back together properly or missing one. So, I used colored tape to mark the ends of each connector--ie--white to white; red to red; etc. That way I would know for sure which end went where. It also helped me to know that I got them all reconnected. Just a double check for me as I'm famous for getting something all buttoned up only to discover that I missed a connection. I hate it when that happens!!!:banghead:

If anybody has the instruction sheet handy; BRP lists just how long THEY think that a NASCAR mechanic on a serious dose of high-energy drinks ought to take to install them... ;)
