• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

First ride towing the camper

We rode to a friends and worked on the wiring on the camper/trailer. It was a breeze thanks to Scotty's diagram he emailed me.

Towing the trailer was very easy. The only time I noticed it was there was going up hill..it slowed down while on cruise. We were towing the trailer, riding two up with some cargo.

So, we are pretty much ready for our WA to MI to Maggie Valley,NC and back to WA cruise. Kiddo is ready, too. She loved her new Spyderhut.

Anyway, thanks and kuddos to Scotty! :2thumbs:

Campers

Can yaw please keep us posted on how the Rt pulls your camper and what kind of actual fuel mileage you get, we have had a Bunkhouse for years and my wife always pulled it with her Wing Trikes. since getting the RtS I have been reluctant to let her pull it, I have been pulling it with my Yamaha Venture, and am about to pull it to Alaska in may. A loaded camper for a long trip is a load and I would prefer it behind a 3 wheeler for emerg. braking, etc. even though I just added elec. brakes to help, your honest opinions would be greatley appreciated. I have already wired an adapter to the cargo trailer to my 6 prong round trailer plug so we can switch back and forth, anyone interested in the adapter harness wiring diagram let me know.

My RTS pulled my Aspen Sentry (about 300 pounds empty) just fine. You seldom even know it is there. My observations:

1. Fuel mileage drops off, especially at freeway speeds. Expect at least a 20%-25% hit.
2. The Spyder towing capacity is limited to 400 pounds, so you need to pack frugally with the camper, which is heavier than a cargo trailer.
3. While on cruise, the speed will drop off on the hills, requiring supplemental throttle application, probably as a result of the high-rpm, lower-torque engine design.
4. Braking is marginal. I'm considering the addition of electric brakes. Ride defensively!
