First motorcycle crash of the season.

Bikes came out on Saturday out at my neck of the woods. 4 days later we have our first bike crash. As usual appears the driver of the car was at fault. I know the area, car would have run a stop sign or proceeded before safe after stopping. I have noticed the car drivers aren't used to sharing the roads with us yet. To my fellow riders coming out of hibernation in the next few days and weeks...Be careful out there...

Trust no one..!!

Do not believe drivers will obey the rules of the road. Trust none of them, they will look right at you and still pull right out in front of you. Their notion that motorcycles stop on a dime is in all their minds. Sadly even those that ride motorcycles. Be careful be safe enjoy the new season...:thumbup:

That may be one of the more important aspects of the Spyder: the five-foot wide front-end creates a presence on the road, that cannot easily be denied. :thumbup:

Roger that! The other big danger is people :cus: with their hand held electronics......................it's epidemic in this area!

Our first fatality of the year happened Saturday, 4/5/14. A car crossed in front of an oncoming MC to make a left turn. The MC t-boned the car. Of course, the car driver did not see the MC.

Happened to me a few times on the Raptor not yet on the Spyder but I always run with full beam on so they can see me

I added Day Runners and Day pucks. Day and night they can see me better and often wait till I pass. I found they do help and think most wonder what is this coming? I also use my high beams and during the day I will get flashed by on coming traffic and I wave back, knowing they see me.

Headlight modulators help a lot! Get's people's attention better than most anything else. Except they don't work with HID headlights.

Single filament will work too. I had to come up with wiring changes and a use a relay but I was able to use both high and low beam settings on the headlights even though they're only a single filament bulb. If you wanted to use a modulator with single filament auxiliary lights I can figure it out. You would have to use a switch other than the hi/lo headlight switch, but it's doable. The fog light switch should work, but obviously not as convenient.

I'll post some info on how I did mine. I forgot to take pics so it'll be short on visual info, other than wiring diagram.

Using the lights during the day is an wise choice. Although using the high beams during the day makes you more visible, it could temporarily blind drivers and create a hazard for you.

You folks now have me thinking some extra lights in the front would be good. Currently have day runners on the A frame bars for the Black Widow.

The 2014 will be a new canvass to start with.
